I realized that casinos are about the only place left where people can go and smoke, but there are those of us who don't like smoke and wish casinos didn't allow it. This casino is set up that all the slot machines are in one big room with no divider of any kind between smoking and non-smoking. In fact, I sat at a machine on the non-smoking side with someone smoking less than 5 feet away from me. I also felt the games/machines on the non-smoking side were not as nice/fun as on the other side. Overall, they didn't have many popular current machines like we usually have at other Casinos. The only free pop machine and the bathrooms were also on the smoking side. As a result, after about an hour, I had a major headache and smelled more like smoke than I have in any casino ever. Next time we are in NW Iowa, I think we will go a bit further to the ones in Sioux City.
I have never been to a casino where NO one is winning. No yippee coming from the gamblers. I played for 3 hours never winning anything which truly is unusual. You would expect to win something on one game. Food at the buffet was the highlight. Otherwise the casino gets 0 stars, buffet gets 4 stars.
The food is great and the casino had a great non smoking area.We are not smokers and it is nice to find a casino with a non smoking section.
Saw Nightranger in concert at the event center and it was great. The place is a nice intimate venue to see your favorite artists. Looking forward to more rock shows.
Last Sunday, July 20, my wife and I took off for a one-day vacation three hours north of our Home, Blair, NE. One of the reasons we chose it was because Sun. -Thurs. they will honor discount coupons from other Mid-west Casino/Hotels; we spent the night in a beautiful King-bed room for $49.00 with a coupon we had from Harrah's in Kansas city. The Casino/Hotel is fairly new and is trying to set itself up as a resort destination venue. The first of August they will open up their 18-hole golf course. There is both an indoor and an outdoor pool, very nice. Didn't use the indoor pool but the outside pool was very nice with a life guard on duty. Most casino hotels don't have pools because they don't want the kids there and they want you to spend your money in the gaming areas. The gaming floor had 900 slots with the usual tables games also. We ate at the Big Drop Cafe Sunday night and it was fine. However, Monday morning we ate at Robert's Buffet for $4.99and it was fantastic. The best sausage gravy and biscuits I've ever had. Made to order omelets, breakfast meats, rolls, fruits...for $4.99!! I will go back.
I wanted to try the casino in Iowa. All I know is Foxwoods & Mohigan (CT). This was way out in the country in Iowa. It is a small casino, very pleasant. We only stayed to bet & actually win! Stayed for a few hours. Very clean & nice. The only thing of course, is the smoking. Even in the non smoking area, you can smell it. (same with the CT casinos). Other than that we had a great time!
We recently stayed at the Grand Falls Casino and Resort. The facility was very nice. The pool area was lovely. The rooms were very nice. The spa, albeit overpriced, was quite nice as were the staff. However, certain aspects of the customer service were horrendous. The restaurant, pool, and maid staff were all good. The front desk and casino staff, on the other hand, were less than impressive. I found the casino staff and front desk staff to be unfriendly and at some points even rude. I tried to request a wake-up call and the front desk would not answer the phone. After multiple attempts I gave up. I certainly hope there is never an emergency, as the front desk will be of no help. After some rude treatment in the casino, I asked to speak with a manager. Amazingly, a manager never showed up. At the time of checkout, a printed out bill was shoved across the desk. As I looked it over, a comment of, "Well, is everything ok on it?" I answered that all was fine. That was the end of the checkout process. There was no thank you, how was your stay, we hope you come again. Not one more word was said. It is a lovely facility, but based on the customer service we will not be back.
This was a first time to this Casino and also my first trip to Grand Falls, I met some wonderfulpeople from all areas of the State, being from Canada they welcomed me to come back. I havebooked with my regular travel agent to go back in October this fall.
Nice people, great rooms, exercise room and pool area is top notch. I play craps and love the daytime low minimums during the week! They have golf and a spa.
I've gambled here quite a few times due to the close location to Sioux Falls, I've enjoyed playing craps as the dealers are friendly. However, the slots are some of the tightest I've ever played. You're better off playing video lottery. Also, they lack any real entertaining slots, bonus features don't hit often and when they do they are dull and you don't win much. The buffet is pretty solid.
We only live about 10 minutes from the casino but once you walk in you feel like your far far away! We don't win but we go for the atmosphere. We especially love Ruthie's Steakhouse, that's why we go there. The food is awesome and the restaurant is very quiet, you cannot hear the casino floor at all. Yes it's spendy but well worth it.
We just stayed at Grand Falls for the first time as our family met there to celebrate our parents 60th wedding anniversary. Our stay was rather disappointing for a number of reasons, we ended up checking our a night early and headed to Sioux Falls.First let me start with the good. The resort is beautiful, modern, clean and appealing. You are greeted with free valet service who treat you right and were one of the few customer service highlights of the resort. We stayed in a standard room which was very modern, roomy and quiet. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathrooms are very unique and spacious. Roberts breakfast buffet was moderately priced with good selection and great omelets. The pool and hot tub were nice with the hot tub extending into the outdoors, a nice touch and the fitness room was great! The only other service highlight was the maid service as they were friendly, responsive and fast. One final note, we attended the David Cassidy concert which was very intimate and entertaining. Now to the negatives which outweighed the positives by a large margin. By far the biggest disappointment was the customer service. They were not friendly, accommodating, helpful or attentive...simply said they basically did not seem to care about the guests. One example was run around they give you to get your free $5 slot play when you have the breakfast buffet. We had the buffet and the hostess told us to take the receipt to get our free $5, but we tried to cash in they told us we couldn't get it because we charged the breakfast to our room. Despite our efforts to convince them that even though we put it on our room tab the cost was the same as paying cash however they did not care and DID NOT give us our $5 slot credit. This was a great way to discourage us from playing the slots or gambling at all, go figure! Other examples poor service was when we asked for a few extra chairs for our room so our family could gather, but they would not help us. Prior to the David Cassidy concert they had a cash bar outside the event center, but for hundreds of attendees they only had two bartenders serving. Casino staff are not very friendly or very helpful to newcomers. Other negatives was the Roberts evening buffet at a cost of $18.99 per person. The food selection was plentiful, but it was all very average at best. The buffet was also extremely busy and very under staffed. Internet is $9.95 per day which is not uncommon to higher end establishments, I consider it their way of keeping you out of your room and in the casino. The event center itself was somewhat disappointing with no theatre seating, only regular chairs with were way too close together - definitely not Vegas caliber. The center was also too warm and smoky. To sum it up they bill themselves as a Vegas-inspired casino resort, but we were not very inspired by what we experienced!
Do NOT gamble here. You will NOT win a thing. No playbacks. Nothing! We were there on a week end night less than 100 people playing, that should have tipped us off. STAY AWAY!!!! I will never go there again.
Tried of the rudeness and the casino is going downhill FAST!Customer Service.... only a word found in the dictionary. They have no regard for the close customer base.
While not staying at the Resort, we did use the Casino during a Car Show on the grounds. The casino itself was very clean, as was the whole first floor, including the restrooms. Casino staff was most helpful. Lots of penny/nickel/quarter slots, but only about a dozen tables for poker, blackjack, etc. Payouts seemed to be good, only not at the slots I played! The players appeared to be having lots of fun.
