marion heritage center

There isn't hours worth of historical information in here but what they have is nice including information on the "Swamp Fox" - American Revolutionary War military officer, Francis Marion. The center is in an old church and some of the original stain glass windows are on display upstairs. Also a fresco by Dan Rhodes which was commissioned in 1939 by the WPA in 1939. It was moved to the Heritage Center from the post office and professional restored in 2008. The Heritage Center is located just off the historical square so it's a refreshing break from shopping at the local shops and provides a brief look at Marion's history.According to their website, they are only open 1-4p.m. Wednesday thru Sunday.
