milwaukee railroad museum

This museum was a very nice time. Spread out over a few buildings there are many things to see. The big engine where you get to ring the bell is the best! The model train area is quite impressive and the staff/volunteers were very informative. We really enjoyed our visit.

I have been taking little ones out here for over 8 years Big engine Great Northern for kids to see, caboose, mini train sets. Great experience. Need to check dates for special happenings.

This is a well maintained piece of railroad history that is well worth the visit. The roundhouse is a great place to visit, and you can even climb into the cab of the Great Northern 1355 steam engine and ring the bell! The turntable actually works, and you can go for a spin on it. You can also take a short ride on a very small train pulled by an equally small switcher. They also have a huge model railroad display in its own building which is a must see!

This attraction is an ongoing restoration project on good acreage, consisting of the Roundhouse and other buildings containing various memorabilia including a large HO Gauge Model Railroad.The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and will provide a conducted tour, or you can chose to wander at will.There is a yard ride behind a diesel jinty which wasn't running whilst I was there, probably due to the fact that it was raining.Well worth the visit and can be returned to to observe progress.
