We only went here for a concert at the event center. Although we walked through the casino we didn't gamble, we didn't eat here nor did we stay - our review is just on the event center. First, we thought the price per person was fair for the quality/length of the concert. The event center was a fairly decent size. Because it's not huge, there didn't seem to be a bad seat in the room. Everyone would have been able to see the stage. The sound system was very good right from the beginning - had it adjusted properly before the first song began. There is no smoking in the event center. Beer was sold in the room. We'd go back for another concert.
Our plan was to go to the Winery in Tama then have dinner at the Casino. But as I often do, I forgot it is SO smokey in the Casino. It was filled with second hand smoke and we basically lost our appetite after gambling for less than 30 minutes. They have a smoke free section but glancing in from a distance it looked very limited on table games if any. I was also disappointed that the only roulette table they had open was a digital betting system that took some time to get use to. It was ok overall and I would like to visit again to try the food but it will take some major convincing of my wife.
My husband and I and our adult children used to enjoy going to this casino because you at least had half a chance of playing for a while or coming out a little ahead, but it has become just like all the rest of the casinos around with the nothing, nothing spins and poor bonus payouts. We call it American greed to the point of disbelief. You used to be able to play for hours but not anymore because these casinos can pay off gaming fines cheaper than giving their customers a fair chance..So my recommendation is save yourself from the disappointment.
Went through a hundred in about 30 minutes playing penny slots. Drunks were not being contained and the place was very smokey,Had to retreat to the non smoking room no one was in because machines suck.
Everything was great! The employees were extremely courteous and helpful. There really wasn't anything that I disliked. It would have been quicker to check in and out if they had more people working the desk.
Nice clean casino, played 2 hours on same $, win some, lost some, and won some more. Played on slots - soft drinks free. Does not offer free alcohol while playing.
Me and my fiance decided to take the King & Queens Motorcoach Services to Meskwaki Casino in Tama. This made the trip a better experience than driving ourselves. We were able to enjoy the casino as a whole and didn't have to worry about who was driving back. We enjoyed the buffet, bar/entertainment, and gambling. The food was good, bar prices responsible, entertainment in the bar area was fun, and the dealers were great. They all provided friendly services and made us feel welcome here. I recommend this place for a great night out.
We had a great time here! We almost always go on Sunday about mid-morning.....there are not a bunch of people there at that time so you can really look around....it is a wonderful atmosphere!
My mom likes to visit Tama every year on her birthday to celebrate. BINGO HALL: On the day of your birthday, they give you so much towards a bingo packet, which is a nice little perk. You have your choice of playing bingo on paper packets, a computer, or both. I am not a huge bingo person, but my mom is, so we all play once a year even if it is not our thing. The computer is nice if you are afraid you might miss a number on the paper packets. You can even customize it a little bit to make it more fun with different dauber marks, etc. They offered two levels on the night we played. The buy-ins were $25 for level 1 and $45 for level 2. If you play on the computer but want some paper packets too, you can get those extra for a reasonable price for an extra $5 (level 1) or $10 (level 2). The pay-outs were $300 (level 1) or $600 (level 2). They also throw in some fun games where the winner can spin a wheel for a price or pick a stuffed animal, etc., with winnings dependent upon your pick. Overall, not a bad place to play bingo. CASINO: The casino is fairly big here. They have a good variety of slot machines. Just like everywhere else, we seemed to lose quick on some machines and sat at others for hours. They do now serve alcohol in the casino. The waitresses/waiters were fairly quick the night we were there once they had already served you a drink. It did take a bit to get their attention if you moved seats though. There are soda machines and bathrooms conveniently located throughout the casino. Not much to say here. It is pretty much just like most other casinos we have been too. They do seem to announce quite a few winners!FOOD: There are a few options for food here. Our go-to place is always the Jackpot Buffet. The food is kind of pricey here, but there are tons of delicious options available. They also have a kind of tiny food court where you can grab sandwiches, pizza, etc., that was open even in the early morning hours, which was decent for what it was. OVERALL: We really like stopping here at least once a year (we are about 2 to 2-1/2 hours away and have lots of casinos closer to us) and would not hesitate to recommend this place to friends and family. Have a great time and win big!!
We've stayed here twice. First visit was average. Stay in the tower away from the casino if you can. Our room had a faint smell of a swimming pool which is in the same tower. The tower with the casino was our second stay. We were on the 4th floor, and our room smelled like stale cigarette smoke, even though it was a non-smoking room. The shower did not have a curb on it and the curtain was 4" too short to reach the floor. Result: water on the floor after each shower. My wife fell and hit her head. Hotel staff merely asked if we had called for an ambulance. Only when we complained in a letter to the management did they tell us that they have an EMT on staff and he was available to check my wife. The pool was nice and so were the other guests.
Been to several casino and as for Iowa I would recommend this one. Clean, good payout percentage. My Wife loves the BINGO
We stayed 1 night at the hotel. Check in was very easy, the room was nice. The walls are kind of thin though; there was a child down the hall who screamed her head off for a good half hour or more and it sounded like it was right next door! And at about 5am, someone in the room across the hall from us was running something that sounded like a vacuum cleaner! And the TV wouldn't work. I know, I should've called the front desk, but I didn't want to seem dumb. Overall, it was an average stay, nothing too bad or too good. The casino is the usual, they allow smoking so we all smelled like smoke all weekend. It gets very crowded at night. My sister in law and I had booked massages in the spa, which were fantastic! If you go, make your appointment ahead of time, they get booked up fast! They have a men's area and a woman's area, which we didn't get to see. These areas have steam rooms, dry sauna and whirlpools, but we were disappointed they had already closed the steam room, and the whirlpools were down for repair, so we never did get to use any of these features. They were supposed to stay open til 7pm but they closed them down at 6. There was a swimming pool and hot tub, but it was full of little kids (who brings their kids to a casino?!?) so we didn't use it. Now for the food: I had always thought that casinos were supposed to have really good food. Not this one. We had supper in the Grill. I had steak that was dry and a bit tough, and was way past being medium well! The alcoholic drinks were cheaper in the casino than in the restaurant, but were good if a bit strong! We had breakfast in the buffet next morning, wasn't impressed. They had dry cereal and hot cereal, but I couldn't find any milk on the buffet, guess you have to remember to order a glass full when you pay for your buffet at the beginning. The serving staff were all nice, and very friendly. The bathrooms were clean.
Each year on Nov. 22, we stay at the hotel and then on the 23rd play Bingo. This is our 4th year doing this. My youngest daughter used to take her older sister to play Bingo as she loved it so much. We come now on the anniversary of her death to play Bingo in her honor. We did have a good time even though, as most times, we donated to the Casino. All but one employee we had contact with were very nice. The gal that was at the register at the Buffet on Friday around 4:30pm, was exceptionally rude. Must not have had a good day, but it was unsettling to have someone be like that to us. When we got to the Hotel, we needed to ask where the Club Meskwaki was and we saw a woman in an office and the door was open, so I asked her about it and she got up and took us where the Club Meskwaki desk is and she took care of getting us set up and also gave us a discount on our room. He name is Theresa. An asset to Meskwaki Casino/Hotel. Our room was clean and the mattress was great. We both had a very good nights sleep. We also used our rewards cards while playing the machines and were able to get our morning buffet with our points earned and we had enough left over to get a discount in the gift shop. (I have to click on "Friends", as there isn't just a "Family" place to click and we didn't have young children or teens with us.)
This casino monitors players that use the rewards cards. I was playing in the high limit room and I went to the rest room that is located in the lounge area next to the high limit room. While inroute to the restroom the casino has a office that aperently they monitor players as the worker was looking ata computer monitor. I went to the rest room returnedto the machine and about a half hour later the person who wasin the office came up to me and called me by my name and wanted to know how my playing was going. I never met this person before and the only way fe would know my name would be by evesdropping on my game. Why would the company need to monitor players if they had no way to manipulte the ma chines. Makes no sense to waste the time checking on players who are using the rewards card. I don't use mine anymore. I have been attending this casino since they first opened years ago. Gaming has really changed and the ethics have been discarded. Check out the office in the lounge area next to the high limit room you will see for yourself.
Huge casino with a large bingo hall. Great selection of slots and table games. Good neighbor bingo on Monday nights.
