Wonderful day get away. Has a nice water park that's included in the cost of the park admission. Not overly crowded. Well laid out. Pricey food as with any park.

We try to visit Adventureland at least once a summer. We enjoy the rides & the fact you never have to wait very long in line. The grounds are well maintained & the employees are always courteous. This past summer I took 6 kids, ages 1-15 & they all had a blast. {we went to Disney World years ago & as we were leaving my kids said they prefer Adventureland.} We prefer paying Adventureland prices & the hometown feel. Great place to visit.

While Adventureland is no Six Flags or Worlds of Fun, it is still an enjoyable place to go to, especially for teenagers or families with young kids.

It is like a lot of other amusement parks around the US however in the last few years it has expanded the water park with more slide and wave machine which makes it great for kids and adults as well.

For the amount of money you're paying, it's almost better to just make the drive to valley fair in Minnesota. But they do have a variety of rides for people of all ages. You don't have much food options and if you're interested in thrill rides this probably isn't the amusement park for you. Not very many "thrill" rides.

Our family has been visiting Adventureland since it opened. It is perhaps the cleanest amusement park you will find and it not overcrowded. This is an Iowa treasure!

We spent one day at Adventureland in August. It's not huge, nor are the rides outstanding. But it is family friendly, and very reasonably priced compared to other amusement/theme parks. The "main street" is actually quite nice, with the train station, several cute shops, an ice cream parlor, and arcade. The arcade also has a ride in it (some kind of spinny thing), which we didn't realize until we wandered into the arcade right before we were getting to leave. The main street also had a few characters out and about right at park opening. Most of the rides are typical rides you'd find at a local amusement park: ferris wheel, bumper cars, several coasters (nothing huge or outrageous), kiddie rides, raft ride, log drop. One stand out, unique ride is The Underground, which is an inside dark ride. It's on a track, goes fast but there are no drops. It's dark but you go by scenes from an old mine. Kind of like a fast haunted train ride. I really liked it, and it's suitable for children and ride chickens. We at lunch at one of the food stands, plus had a few snacks through out the day. Food was typical amusement park: overpriced, unhealthy, just okay. We were there on a weekend, and I didn't find lines to be too bad. Park employees maybe could've been a bit friendlier, or at least pretended to be in a good mood.

This is a classic local attraction in the summer, everyone goes here if they live in Des Moines. this my not live up to some huge amusement park like Disney but unlike Disney you can get through the whole park in a day (if you know how to avoid the crowds).P.S Don't go to the waterpark during the hot part of the day if you dont want to be stuck in huge lines.

We had an awesome local family day - little pricey but it was nice to tire the kids out without leaving the Island. The food wasn't great, but that's expected - the food was beyond expensive! We had a nice time though, the kids loved it. They do need more roller coasters and older kid rides to keep us coming back.

Adventureland is a nice place to take a family to have fun. It is an amusement park and has every ride imaginable. They have several nice places to eat and a lot of walking. The water rides in the summer are a nice way to stay cool. I gave it a 4 star because I believe that they could do a little better at their programs. They have had the same magician at the saloon for years and years. Some of the entertainment is good but, wish they had more. Otherwise, they have a waterpark and it is included in the price.

We're used to going to 6 Flags and Great Adventure in Georgia and New Jersey in the 00's and now we are going with our grandchildren to Adventureland. We really like how the trees have matured and there is plenty of shade and benches for us Senior fun loving citizens. However, we would like to see the park lower the rate for those over 60. Additionally I would like to see some healthier food choices, because you cannot bring your own food in. With people more concerned about eating better this could be a good improvement if Adventureland would offer more healthier choices. As far as the rides go, they are great. There is enough variety for the whole family. It is nice they improve and add new rides every year too. Also they are very family oriented and so helpful. We had a mdical issue come up and they went out of their way to help solve it.

I take the kids to Adventureland every year and meet family. The water park is growing bigger. Needs a couple of really big water rides and would be the best around. I love you can do both the water park and amusement park for one price. Do wish the tickets didn't cost so much. There should be a cheaper resident price.

They didn't want any competition so they bought Riverview and closed it. I've only been back once since then. Then you got rid of the Silly Silo which was the only good ride you had.

Definitely more to do than time in a day. The 'Lazy River' is a must do - grab a tube and a Mai Tai every time you float by the bar. Get there at opening time to get a great location or call ahead and reserve a private cabana. Loads of relaxation and fun in the sun.
