This scenic drive is a great alternative to the drive through the sagebrush desert of south central Idaho. The springs and waterfalls are beautiful and a visit to the state fish hatchery is interesting and fun for the kids.
When I am rating an attraction, I try to weigh the cool factor against the cost and, well, since this drive is free what more can you ask for? The scenery changes dramatically from the areas around here and I like surprises. We found a campground which had HOT-hot spring and warm-hot spring pools and you could rent a private cabana each equipped with a private hot tub for a few bucks. They also had a chain link compound with Gators, again, another surprise. Who goes to a campground in Idaho expecting to see alligators? All in all, well worth a detour if need be.
It is a beautiful place to throw your tent out and enjoy. We had a dock to ourselves and fished until after dark. It was quiet and if we wanted could go swimming at the pool there. I plan on returning many times.
nice to see all the falls. Best time to go is in the spring the the water a melting. The only problem is they are on the other side of the road so picture taking is not the best, but to be enjoyed
If you like a lovely Sunday drive this is the one. The views are delightful and relaxing. Every season offers beauty. Spring the water is running hard and fast, in the summer it continues and the fall adds the colors to scene. The winter offers ice sculptures of ice as the water continues to drizzle and freeze.
We stopped and detoured along the way and enjoyed everything. What is the most sobering is how the springs have changed since the power plants and irrigation came along. In general, enjoyable drive and towns along the way.
It was a surprise to find the beautiful snake river canyon set among endless farms. Water seems to just ooze from the canyon walls. Take the detour to Niagara Springs State Park.
This area in the Snake River canyon is beautiful. Minreal hot springs come out of the canyon wall. There are swimming pools along the way and pic nic areas. Peaceful respite from a hectic tri.
This a trip everone should make. It is always beautiful to make this drive. Don't be in a hurry. Too bad other drivers don't slow down a little and enjoy the surroundings.
People driving to fast to enjoy the view, not enough places to pull over to get a good picture of the springs along the way
Waterfalls cascading off the canyon wall. Very nice highway that winds through the Hagerman Valley along the snake river, and through vinyards, ranches, and farms. A must see!
