We find this zoo very good. The exhibits are clean and fun. the children's zoo is, of course, the best part.
Loved this place, I have lived here 5 years and never had a chance to go before. Nice selection of animals and wide paths. We were there in winter and still got the chance of see lots of critters.
It was closed but nice park. Just wish we could use our reciprocal membership like in madison Wisconsin We could see many animals driving along periphery of Zoo
I grew up in Idaho, and for Idaho Falls, the zoo is fantastic. The town is so small and we are so lucky to have a zoo! It has lots of animals for a small place, and they are all super interesting. There is even Tigers and Lions! Along with a petting zoo, and a cafe with picnic tables called "Kookaburra Cafe" Very clean and they treat the animals great. I recommend for sure!
The zoo is small great for little kids especially at Halloween for Boo in the Zoo. I was a photographer and had got great pictures of the animals years ago. I've had two strokes and dissected aorta and its hard for me to carry camera, so I just go in to visit the animals and babies they seem to have a lot each year.
Though only on 7 acres, this zoo has animals from all around the world and the exhibits allow close viewing of many exotic species. This zoo participates in many SSP programs- helping to preserve many endangered species. Asian sloth bears, Siberian tigers, Red Pandas, Black footed penguins and many more. In the summer you can enjoy the PIP program= Penguin Interaction Program- up close and personal with some of the penguin ambassadors. Great way to spend a summer day! Not open in the winter but will be open in December for Christmas with the Critters! Santa will be there.
The zoo is kept up well and has a fairly wide variety of animals. They seem to be always trying to upgrade and improve the animal displays and habitats. I know they do a lot of kids programs, just have no personal experience with them.
We planned on a visit today but luckily checked the website first. Last day of operation for 2014 was October 5th. And it sound like they don't open again until April 2015.
a small but still interesting zoo that the kids will lovesure not the SD zoo but for the area it had all kinds of animals that are great to watch. got petting creatures to go along with those you see from safety
First the Zoo, it's not the largest, nor does it have the most animals, but what a great zoo for a small city, do folks realize they're so lucky to have this? Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh My ! Plus, Penguins, Otters, Reptiles, Camels, Owls, Eagles, Primates, Lemurs, Red-tailed pandas, Snow Leopards, Zebras, Servals, Kangaroos, Emus, Flamingoes (that's fun to say) Kookaburras, etc. etc. Near the center of the Zoo there's restrooms and a small food vendor, with burgers, sandwiches and the like. If that wasn't enough, there's Zoo Brew, usually the second Friday of September from 5 to 9 pm it's like a mini beer fest with various types of beer from a selection of breweries scattered throughout the Zoo. Grab a cup and visit the animals and the brewers both. They also have local restaurants setup food stations so you can buy dinner while your there. There's a band playing while zoo-keepers walk around with 'animal ambassadors' so you can be walking down a path as they escort a penguin toward you, or an owl, or a lizard and other visitor friendly animals. It's a great zoo. Combine them for 5 stars.
The zoo is not too big, but still has a nice variety of animals from around the globe. It is small enough that I walked it twice. All the animals were active and cool to see. Worth a stop if you are in the area.
The park was easy to get around and had a nice variety of animals. Nice attraction for children and families with young teens. There are a few educational shows that also allow for interaction with a few of the animal stars. Strollers were available to rent.
A fun place for the whole family - young and old. We have a special needs grandchild and he was easily accommodated for. Love the otters!
They had all sorts of animals I had never seen. Kids loved it, especially petting zoo and penguin feeding time. You can spend as little or much time there. We did 1.5-2 hours.
The Tautphaus Park Zoo is not a big park and what they do they do well. They have an excellent selection of animals and they are presented in nice enclosures. The grounds are shaded and landscaped and visiting the zoo is a very satisfying experience.
