the idaho art lab

We happened across an advertisement for art classes, and an art gallery showing "doodles" of famous people in St. Anthony, Idaho. It was a Saturday afternoon and we had nothing else going on, so we drove over to visit it. Wow! What we found was a complete Artist studio supporting all media, a small store with art supplies, a visiting artist studio and residence for temporary work, a director who is successfully marketing his Yellowstone Art, engaged volunteers, and enthusiastic students exploring pottery, print making, photography, sculpture, and you name it. "The Idaho Art Lab is a not-for-profit art education organization. Our art gallery and art center are staffed by volunteers. Our mission: "The Idaho Art Lab promotes the visual arts and provides opportunities to people of any age, ability or economic status to engage in the arts by offering art education programs, gallery exhibits & a gathering place for residents to be involved in the arts as part of their daily life." (web page). Co Founders Daniel and Karla Hidalgo were welcoming, gave us the cooks tour, and I witnessed one of the students turn out his first pot off the wheel and it looked very good.Artists, you need to visit this place. It is inspiring!
