Went to a Christmas Matinee - stylish old theatre with a great vibe. Loved the entire experience. Everyone should see a movie in a theatre like this at least once.
The Panida Theater is home to many different events - theater, dance, music and more - in the lovely small Sandpoint, Idaho community. Right in the middle of downtown, it hosts amazing events - local film festival, a foreign film series, and local Arts Council series, world-class performers, theater (both local and professional), local school choir and dance concerts, and more. The beautiful theater was destined for demolition and the city purchased it, renovated it to its early 20th century glory and is a pleasure just to visit, even if you are not attending a concert or show! The community is proud of its treasure and many locals volunteer to take tickets, work the concession stand and hand out programs. A Sandpoint 'must-see'!
Set in downtown Sandpoint, the Panida is a community gem. They attract acts ranging from music to dance to theater to documentary films.
My wife is a Sandpoint native, and she's often told me about the Panida Theatre. I've walked past it many times on visits to Sandpoint, but never, until recently, had the chance to go inside. In July, we had the opportunity to see one of the local amateur dramatic companies perform The Wizard of Oz, so I finally got to see the interior of the theatre, and it didn't disappoint. The architecture and interior decor are a fascinating example of a style called Spanish Mission, and you can easily imagine that you've been transported to Arizona or New Mexico or California. As a theatre, it has comfortable seating, and all seats have a good view of the stage. The performance of The Wizard of Oz was excellent, and it was easy to forget that this was an amateur production.
The theater is beautiful and well preserved. They have a little refreshment counter manned by very personable locals. They serve local artisan brews and wine. Casual, eclectic, local color. We have loved every event we've attended and look forward to the next. A must see in Sandpoint!!!
Bought last minute tickets for the Wizard of Oz production, took a group of kids and found the production quality to be much better than expected for the size of town and community theater. There's a small concession which serves non-alcoholic beverages, popcorn and candy.
a piece of history. I watched plenty of movies here when I was a kid. the panida has been a part of sandpoint history for many who grew up here. opened in 1927 it still holds the charm of days gone by, thanks to people who cared enough to keep it that way. stop in a watch a show. live performances and or movies still go on here.
Small intimate theater with a classy ambiance. A great venue for movies, live performances, and local activities.
This theater has been restored to its original classic appearance. Because Sandpoint is a community committed to the arts, you will find many locals performing here - very good performers! Also, there are frequent opportunities to view documentaries (which was my most recent visit). The seats are comfortable - the service usually includes beer and wine along with popcorn and other movie foods. I love this place. I have visited it countless times.
Sandpoint has lovingly restored this theater. It books top shows and entertainers nearly every weekend and some mid-week.A very nice facility that seats plenty.
Local production of Agatha Christie's Mousetrap was great! Performance was sold out, but we were able to get in when some patrons did not show up. For a local production, this was very enjoyable. The theatre is small, and a funny shape. Maybe if the productions continue to sell out, they'll be on a bigger stage.
A restored 1920s gem of a place to watch a movie or local event of any kind. Have been there many times over the last 10 years.
The Panida is THE place for culture. You can expect anything and everything, right here at home. OK, YOU need to come and experience what North Idaho has to offer. We will surprise you!
The Panida is a nice historic theater, but it's a bit cramped and parking can be difficult as well. I would still see a show here, but it's nothing spectacular.
