I went to the gardens for a canning lesson. That was so fun, informative and educational. Dan and wife Erin, did an amazing job and i can't wait to try what i learned. The gardens have never been used to their capiticty and i hope with the directors, it will blossom.
This is a lovely place to visit, very peaceful. They have a beautiful Tibetan prayer wheel, native plants, nice walks. They do classes and workshops on a variety of subjects and projects that sound like fun, though I have not tried those.
WE LOVED this public garden. We visited on Sunday when there were no special activities planned so we had the place to ourselves. Love the mountain xeriscape garden theme and education approach. This place is tended with loving care and touched by the Dalai Llama himself - see for yourself to know what we mean. Special place.
I had been here earlier in the summer when the Wood river Orchrester played, so restful....The grounds are beautiful to walk.all the vegetation is labeled. there is prayer wheel, very peaceful.
The Sawtooth Botanical Garden is a work in progress (like all gardens of this sort). It's missing lots of markers for the different plants and the design is still rather haphazard, but we really did enjoy our visit. As the Garden progresses, it will become a beautiful place of contemplation. If only they could dampen the highway, which is just yards away. We're looking forward to returning soon and seeing the progress they've made.
I really liked the Tibetan prayer wheel under the pagoda is really cool. Not a lot to see here but if its on your way I would stop by.Be sure to get exact directions because there was no sign for the gardens off the main highway.
The Sun Valley/Ketchum bike path meanders through Ketchum and Sun Valley. It's beautifully maintained and has stunning views, creeks, flowers and even horses along the way. The botanical garden is a lovely oasis of flowers and quiet adjacent to the bike path. Sun Valley is a treasure for you who want to breathe fresh air, enjoy the outdoors, look at stars against a dark sky and get away from traffic and noise. This is a friendly, quiet yet sophisticated town.
This botanical garden specializes in education, but their grounds are instructive, also. I am not sure of the status of the community garden. But a prayer wheel has been put in the middle of a very lovely spot, blessed by the Dalai Lama personally, and it takes one to another place. Certainly worth a visit.
Small garden with awesome gazebo and prayer wheel blessed by the Dali Lama. Nice place for a take a moment and meditate before moving on. The garden also hosts many events. Keep driving north to get into some very unspoiled roadless wilderness.
Hoped for the best but it was pretty mediocre. Maybe just bad time of year. Regardless it takes less than 10 minutes to see everything including the prayer wheel, but it's not worth driving out of your way to see unless you need something to do.
We happened upon this delightful botanical garden on a day trip from Twin Falls to Sun Valley. They boast one of two prayer wheels blessed by the Dali Lama in a lovely meditation area of the garden. The people who work there are more than willing to share their knowledge about the gardens and plants. They are still growing and changing and can provide a super venue for an outdoor wedding (they were preparing arrangements and flowers for one during our visit.
This very small garden is the size of a Ketchum millionaire backyard. In 5 minutes you saw all it is to see. I guess is worth to stop if you don't have anything else to do...better yet drive north of the botanical garden and the wilderness will amaze you.
We love visiting botanic gardens anywhere, and there is a nice one outside Ketchum, ID.It located in the town limits, but is @4.2 miles from the center of town, heading south towards Hailey. There is signage on the HWY. There is no fee to enjoy the garden. It isn't large, yet has some some interesting elements. It's very walkable and presents various local plants. It is clearly popular with the local elk, based on the tracks, mesh covered plants and fresh scat. This is a wonderful local effort, and they have some very unique elements. In 2005 the Dalai Lama brought a handmade prayer bell from Tibet. The Garden built a wonderful locale for the bell, bringing in 20,000 lb stones and creating a peaceful environment. (See pics)Also, there is the Serenity Pond which incorporates a crystal. (See pics) Both places are peaceful and offer a site for meditation. You can spend 20 minutes or 2 hours depending on your interests.
