We enjoy hiking Tubbs Hill with our young children whenever we visit Coeur d'Alene. It is an easy way to get our kids out in nature. If you enjoy short, scenic hikes, it is definitely worth checking out.
We live in the area, and Tubb's Hill is a favorite for all. It is located near the Coeur d'lene Resort, downtown ,on the waters edge. Our new park has extended the beauty and fun. It came about when a realtor wanted to develope the "hill" in the 70's. The city rallied and with a grant came up with the money to purchase it to be used as a recreation area. The views are beautiful as Coeur d'alene Lake has been called one of the most beautiful in the country.
While staying at the resort, we decided to hike Tubbs Hill. The views were amazing and the hike definitely was a great workout with options of steeper vs less steep trails. The trails were nicely marked.
Tubbs Hill is absolutely every local's favorite go-to spot for summer fun. I have enjoyed coming to Tubbs Hill for years and don't think I will ever grow old of it. From the beautiful relaxed hiking trails where you can always find smiling faces and friendly people, the multiple spots for cliff jumping and the beaches that aren't usually too crowded, Tubbs Hill is my favorite.
This is one of my favorite things to do in Coeur d'Alene. The hike is pretty easy but gives you great views of the lake and back toward the resorts. If you time it right, you can see the pontoon plane take off from the beginning of the hike. A few turn-offs have secluded beaches for swimming in the summer. Nicely shaded for most of the way, tons of dogs out both times we were there. Also looks like an excellent path for trail running. Make a point to do this if you're in Coeur d'Alene - pack a picnic and get out in nature. You can park for free the first two hours in the lot adjacent the park at the trailhead.
Great place to hike around and see the views, get some exercise etc. Needs better signage though. We didn't start at a parking area, but at the end of a residential street. It was fun getting back to that spot! Had a great time though! Will take a map next time. Highly recommend it!
Great multiple trail hiking year round. Access to lake down multiple paths and private coves. Rock and sand beaches. Dogs are welcome on leash. Serious cliff diving possible at your own risk.
We have made this a new Thanksgiving Day tradition. We take the dogs and hike around Tubbs hill. It is not crowded and the views are awesome.
can be crowded at times. but nice view of lake. fun to swim at in the summer. pick up your trash and doggie doos.
When you are visiting the Couer d'Alene Resort be sure to add this hike to the visit. You can walk as far as you want but the views are amazing! You can watch the local kids dive off the rocks and it's the perfect place to watch the sunsets.
Great stress reducer, beautiful view, good any time of year. Next to downtown, and the boardwalk. Tubs adjacent to excellent city park.
Took advantage of an 8" snowfall to hike the trails around the lake. It is a relatively easy hike but not a walk in the park due to mild elevation changes, roots and rocks as well as ice in the winter. Great views of the lake. Have also done it in summer and recommend you carry water with you as parts of the trail are exposed and it can get hot. Plenty of access to the lake for swimming and nice rocks to jump off. Lots of wild turkeys, deer and geese to observe. A great place to visit in any season.
Right downtown! This place is so secrene and a great place to escape. the trails are pretty easy and family friendly and your four legged friends are welcome. as you hike you are going to come across some extremely beautiful photo opps. To come to Coeur D' Alene and miss this would be a shame
Was amazed at the trails on Tubbs Hill just south of downtown. You can do an easy walk around the perimeter of the peninsula with the lake views the whole way around or take the more challenging interior trails to go up to the top of the hill. Very serene & lots of wild life (i.e. deer, turkeys, etc.). Nice beaches too if its warm enough to swim. Give yourself plenty of time to explore (at least 1-2 hours).
Awsome view of lake Coeur d'Alene. Lots of scenic spots along the trail. Good hiking shoes or boots recommend. About two miles long.
