Killens pond is a really nice place for family. The park fee is affortable, they have activities and concerts through out the season.
What a treasure! Great water park and hiking trails. Even have boating available for additional cost. We have gone several times this summer and really love it.
It is worth the visit to Killens State Park. It has a water park for kids and has canoes and paddle boats for rent. There are great walking and cycling trails and a campground as well. We love the wooded trailer sites for camping.
This is a great place to take your family during the summer. It usually is open around noon, 7 days a week, during the summer. Caution, to avoid disappointment, get there before it opens, and get on line, because they frequently have busloads of children, bussed in from other states, and they have a limit, by law, of how many people they can let in. There are 3 pools, a kiddie pool, with waterfalls, etc, and a small slide, a wading pool, and a large pool with very large slides, and a rope walk across water. OF course, there are plenty of life guards. For those that need to wear protection from the sun, be aware, that only approved top wear can be worn, and they are very strict about it.
perfect place to camp and relax and enjoy the peace we try to camp here a few times a year i find it best to go through the week when its less crowded..waterpark is nice also
This was our first visit, but based on the listed amenities and reviews we thought we would like it and we weren't disappointed. It is a nice quiet little place with a beautiful pond. We were in a nice shaded site (A06) close to a walking path and the lake. The park is easy to get to. We'll be back.
This has to be one of the nicest parks ever designed! The beautiful, large pond offers fishing and canoe, kayak, rowboat and paddleboat rentals. The water park looked like fun, but was at capacity so we were unable to enter. The best part of the park is the topnotch nature center with educational exhibits, informative interpreters, and a beautiful view of the pond. Killens Pond State Park is a peaceful departure from the hectic beach life just minutes away.
took vacation 2 weeks ago and went camping at Killens Pond State Park in Felton, Delaware. Now I have been going there for some time, at least the last 10 years if not more. I always love it there and have a great time. I have a pop-up camper and go all out on setting it up with the lights and the whole 9 yards. What I love about Killens is that the staff there couldn't not be anymore nice or more helpfull. They keep the bathhouse really clean and the lady was in there twice in one day washing the floors cause of the rain. And as far as the other campers everyone is so nice and you never have to worry about your stuff or if you needed help with anything all you have to do is ask and someone would be there to help. There is nothing like going away and sitting at a camp site and just relaxing and walking the trails, (of which there are alot) Killens pond is the way to go when you want to camp!!!
The water park is very nice for kids but I will always recall Killens for the picnic areas. My husband and I were married in one of the pavillions. We took a podium down by the water to say our vows and had a wonderful meal in the pavillion. We also love hiking around the lake with various family members.
One of the unsung natural areas on Delmarva. Some delightful hiking trails and areas to boat on. Rent a paddle boat or bring your canoe or kayak.
We tried the cabins at killens pond since by late November we didn't feel like tent camping any more this year. What attracted me was that the cabins are well equiped. There is a modern kitchen with 2 electric burners. No stove though. Full sized fridge with freezer. Table and 4 chairs. A full sized bed, very comfy mattress and bunk beds too. There is a large bathroom with shower, W/C accessible. Plenty of heat and hot water. There is a screened porch. Barbeque and fire pit. Just bring your own sheets, pillows, blankets. Also your own pots, pans, plates, etc. They don't provide such things. Overall, very pleased with the cabin. Some other cabins I checked out elsewhere offered only a bed and little more, no kitchen, no indoor plumbing! However, there are some things you might want to know. First off, the site is WALK IN only. They have wheelbarrows at the parking lot so you can bring in your things but most of them have flat tires! If you are carrying a lot of stuff, it could be a real pain. This park is HUGE so why not make the cabin area just a little bit larger and allow cars to come in? The cabins are fairly close to each other. If you want quiet and isolation you likely won't find it here when it is busy and there are kids running around. As one other person commented, the screen door are heavy and they slam loudly. If I go again, I will bring something to prop the door slightly. Also, when we arrived it was a Sunday afternoon and the park office was closed. Fortunately, we arrived early and the camp host was still cleaning out the cabins; so he was still around. Had he been done cleaning we wouldn't have known where to find him so as to register and get in to the cabin. He was very nice though and let us in even though we were a bit early for check in. Note that Killens Pond has 2 entrances. For cabins and camping you have to come in by the Paradise Alley Road entrace. The park is very easy to find too.
Killens State Park is a park that offers it all--parkins spaces, pavillions, a disc golf course, hiking loops, sand volleyball courts and open fields. Just remember to bring some cash as you have to pay for parking (if you don't have a state park pass)
We camp here about 3-4 times a year in our tow-behind camper. There is a small playground, horse shoe pits, volley ball net for the active as well as trails leading through the woods and around the pond. I jogged around the pond twice last weekend using two separate routes. It's probably a couple miles around. Good trails and there is a water park on the opposite side (requires fee) with a large water slide. I didn't go to the water park, but it looks fun. Plenty of places to BBQ and have a pick-nick bench lunch. No swimming in the lake, but you can fish there. Bring a canoe or kayak if you have one. We relaxed in the shade of the trees with other friends camping. Good times around a campfire always makes the world seem better. Beware, there are ground bees (I think yellow jackets) everywhere since I was there mid-August and early September, but my son and I were never stung on either trip. My wife had 1 sting, but I think she got the bee caught in her flip-flop.
quiet park setting, bugs at a minimum, no intruding/walking through your pinic area
inexpensive water park and you can also enjoy the state park.
