Just over the State line from the busy Ocean City beaches, this State Pack has a wonderful beach replete with bathhouse. It can be crowded in the summer, but the beach-goers there tend to be more family oriented and quieter than the Ocean City crowd several miles to the South.

Great spot to spend the day at the beach…an area with concessions and bathrooms with showers, as well as an area where you can surf or fish. Great for families or a day-tripper to the beach.

My husband and I drove from 2 1/2 hours away to go to the beach for the day this past Sunday. This was our first time to Fenwick Island State Park.Pros:CleanPretty beach with good waves the day we visitedParking $8/dayClean bathrooms and shower facilitiesNice atmosphereDogs allowed, if that is something you are looking forSelf clean up of trash....so no overflowing trash cansPlenty of places to eat nearby (we found a great Mexican place with good fish tacos)Cons:None for us. Only if you are looking for a boardwalk or activities...then head to Ocean City a bit south. We had a lovely day!

We visited the park/beach during the last week of August. $8 for the family and we did it for the convenience of the restrooms and to ensure there was a guarded beach. We get to the beach and there are no lifeguards.... they were there earlier in the year but guessing most are college kids gone back to school... so why still the $8 ?? Should knock down the price if they are not paying any lifeguards..... Deleware will beat you out of nickle if given the chance.. be very careful where you park.... parking meter and lot cops are everywhere looking for parking violations.... most lots in Bethany had a kiosk where you have to pay and post the receipt in your windshield.

Nice natural setting. Beautiful clean beach. Can play ball and fly kites. Restroom facilities and showers. Food available.

PRO's: Clean beaches, easy to find, worth the $8 for out of state per carload, snack bar, restrooms, showers, easy beach accessCON's: Small parking lot, ladies bathhouse was mediocre clean (shower with shoes on, etc...)Overall, a great beach day for the money, definitely would go back - day was cut a bit short due to cigar smoke floating right into our faces but we had a great 3 hours beforehand.

As a full-time resident I will stake our state park beach against any New Jersey park beach...oops Jersey has no state park beaches, no wheelchairs, cute little restaurant, showers, bathrooms etc. It's a lovely place and parking is only $8. For out of state residents, just remember you must take your trash with you when you leave or be hit with a hefty fine.

We used this park for our beach access. Easy to get to. $8/day to park. Beach was clean. There are lifeguards. When entering parking lot there is more than one entry to the beach. We took the one closest to the pay booth the first day. Be for warned, this is where you can take dogs on to the beach. We didn't know. I didn't enjoy watching dogs pooped where I'd have to walk. All messes were cleaned up, but still….I you have a dog, it's great for you! At far end of lot is another entry. There is also a feet washing station and locker rooms with toilets and showers and a place to buy food. There is also a ramp and beach wheelchairs for use. This was a great find for us! To rent them in Ocean City is $50/day. The Lions donated to for free use.

We've been going here for years. We stay in the North end of Ocean City, MD and it's only a 10 to 15 minute drive to get here. The beach is nice and clean, and there are also clean bathroom facilities, as well as a snack bar. It costs 8 bucks to get in, which isn't so bad when you consider what you're getting for your money. Give it a try. You'll like it.

Strong large waves while we were there. Clean beach, convenient bathrooms and parking. A nice change from Bethany Beach and their metered parking.

My sister, Connie was visiting us and we had a beautiful day to go to the beach. We went to the Fenwick Island State Park Bathhouse on coastal highway. The price is $8 per car, $4 for Delaware residents. There is a snack bar with a limited menu of basic items like hot dogs, frecnh fries, soda and water. It is convenient though and the hot dogs and fries that we had were not bad.Plastic bags are available for beachgoers to use for their trash, which you are required to take with you when you leave. There are no trashcans, but that is one reason the beach is so clean.Umbrellas and chairs are available to rent. There was a fairly good-sized crowd, but the beach was not packed like other areas of the shore. The beach has a nice mix of younger people, children, middle aged and older people. It is fairly quiet, but busy as a lot of people are passing ball, playing games, swimming or building sand castles. There are plenty of lifeguards on duty.It is a great spot at the beach with nice facilities in the bathhouse for using the restrooms or changing. We had a very nice visit to the beach in Fenwick Island.

This is the place you want to do the beach! It's 8 dollars for out of state visitors which pays for parking. You won't see a bunch of trash strewn on the beach and the numbers of visitors on the beach is much less than you will find anywhere else on the island.

Spent a week in Fenwick Island Delaware in July 2014. Went to this state park 4 days. The beach was great. They charge $8 a carload for the entire day, not bad at all. This is much more convenient than having to feed the meters at Rehoboth beach. We were very happy with the beach. Here is a tip, park close to the wooden pier to walk to the beach. Its a much easier walk!

I fancy myself a beach snob! I spent years on the sand duned and beautiful white sugary sand beaches on Long Beach Island in NJ. Since moving to the MD area I have been looking for something similar. I found Fenwick Island to be a close match. The sand isn't quite as fine nor quite as white but very very acceptable. From the sand dunes to the water the beach here is very wide. It is raked every day so it is very clean. It is also a carry in/carry out trash facility and most people adhere to that so there is almost no litter on the beach. There is a concession stand along with clean restroom/changing/shower facilities. There are beach wheelchairs available as well. We witnessed the life guards in action when a man was suddenly knocked backwards by a rogue wave. He was clearly injured as he could not get up and the back of his head was bleeding. The nearby life guard was by his side in an instant and immediately called for backup. In 30 seconds 6 more guards appeared with a board and bags containing various medical devices. 911 was called and within a few minutes we heard the sirens. But by the time the EMTs arrived the guards had stabilized the man's neck with a collar and had him strapped to a board with foam blocks by his head. The EMTs arrived with their board but when they saw what the guards had done they all gave them the thumbs up. We were impressed with their knowledge and their speed in getting the injured man stabilized and ready to go when the EMTs arrive. 6 of the guards carried the man on the board across the beach and over the dunes to the waiting ambulance. All in all we give Fenwick Beach State Park 15 stars out of 10!!!
