We have going to 16 Mile for 5 or 6 yrs now. It is a very nice place my family enjoys the beers. They don't have food but you can bring food in with you sometimes they do have food trucks. If you are in Georgetown Delaware stop in and enjoy some micro brews
Took the tour and sampled the beers. Loved it. Went on a Saturday and enjoyed the small crowd with a acoustical playing. This place does a lot of events to support the community.
Went on a Friday afternoon. Quiet crowd. Beer sampler was good and server explained what we were having. Good selection of types for a small brewery
It is great having a brew pub in Georgetown, DE a place with fun or night out options. I like the set up and feel of the tasting area. (beers only) Sadly I am not a huge fan of the beers. I enjoy Inlet IPA but all the rest are mediocre. I prefer Mispillion and the grandad of DE micros, Dogfish.
Really small craft brewery with the nicest people---stopped in for their tour--about a half hour, but they take you through their whole operation--all 5 people--and stayed for the tastings. If you're a fan of spicy HOT, try the Killer something...can't remember the name, but it was HOT! My favorite seasonal was the watermelon ale--but loved the caramel finish on their other ales...good brew. Nice folks. Plus a bonus geocache on site!
Stopped here on our Wine and Ale Trail and what a selection of beer! There were some really good choices and some extremely wild brews. There was a delicious tart brew, and a beer that tasted like we were drinking Tabasco sauce. I love interestingly different beers, even if I don't necessarily enjoy them. The bartender was very friendly and knowledgeable about the beer. I definitely recommend this brewery.
we stopped in on a saturday afternoon and we just missed some live entertainment. the beer selection sounded very interesting and we were really disappointed that we could not get a flight sampler. the brews we did try were tasty. the tasting room is small and extremely LOUD. they have a few tables outside, but could use some umbrellas or a covered porch due to glaring sun. we plan to try and stop here again on our next trip through town.
Stopped by to break up our drive but si glad we did. Caught the tour which was informal, informative and entertaining. This is a small brewery run by locals who are very proud of their hometown. Beers are in the tradition of English beer and are delicious. Come on out and support the local economy.
This is a much smaller brewery than dogfish head which is down the road, but the people were nice and the beer was ok. We had a group of 5 and had a hard time settling on a beer for a growler as there weren't any stand outs. The ginger beer was unique, but not for everyone. Overall a fun stop and would include it if touring breweries in the area. Probably not worth a special trip on its own.
This was our first trip to Georgetown, DE and we ventured out to find a relaxing place to have a drink. We found the 16 Mile Brewing Company and so glad we did. We had the 11 beer flight and really enjoyed it. The place is very friendly and the beer is good. Next time we are in the area we will be back!
The history of the restaurant is interesting. Seems it was a college town bar with live music and a stage. Now it is a lovely classy establishment with a tasteful but not stuffy atmosphere. Please try the brussel sprouts!
I have been to 16 Mile several times since it is close to my house...they don't offer any food, however, you can bring in your own if you would like....the girl bartender leaves alot to be desired as far as friendliness...she really has no personality and is not knowledgeable about the types of beer they have....I like some of their beers, but they need to employ someone who can talk about the beer and what goes into it....She must be related to the owners or something. I was there one Fri. night and had to leave because the guitar player was playing so loud you couldn't hear yourself think...The building as terrible acoustics....
I've lived in Germany and enjoyed the wonderful beers of Germany; traveled to England and enjoyed their bitters, Ireland for their Guiness but never had such an assortment of beers in which I enjoyed them all. Most of my travels I find one good beer; of the six I sampled, five I wanted to take home with me!!:) I'll be back with the rest of my growlers for refills!!
This is a really fun thing for us locals and obviously an attraction for out of towers as well. Lovely tasting room with great offerings as well as tours on the hour. They also rent out for private parties, the day we were there they closed early and canceled the three o clock tour so come early and hope to stay late! We didn't do the tasting set or the tour as we were doing the weekend chore thing, but had a pint (both the responder and amber were yummy). Offerings go from lighter to very heavy so there's something for everyone. The atmosphere is very light, lots of windows chess tables and a nicely situated bar with views of all the gorgeous wood paneling. Good tv coverage so catch a game of your choice here and enjoy a tasty local brew!
Great beer! Love good local breweries. Around Six core styles and a few seasonals, these guys have major potential for growth.
