Intimate small theatre with restaurant and bar. Great atmosphere. Historic property - should continue renovation.
Had a great time at this restored theater for a charity event. As a historic preservationist, it was interesting to see the restoration style they followed. It was a treat for me!
The Queen Theratre is a gem. Renovating an historic theatre in the heart of Wilmnington was a bold move, and the end product is magnificent. Great views, solid service, decent shows, all in our city. Support the Queen -- you won't be disappointed.
I went to see a band, "Caravan of Thieves," at this venue back in June in the upstairs area. It was a ticketed event that we paid for well in advance. This is a group several of us in the party had seen before, and we were looking forward to seeing them again and introducing some other people to their music.Unbeknownst to us, the club also permitted a private party to be in the bar area at the same time that was obnoxious and loud, to the point that the band itself felt compelled to ask the group to please settle down so they could perform. By and large, they did not.At no point in time did any staff member apologize for the inconvenience or attempt to quiet down (or remove) the obnoxious group from the area so we could enjoy the show that we paid for. I will not be attending a show at the Queen again.
pretty limited menu. I think there were more drink choices than food choices. obviously it's very convenient to eat there if you're going to a concert there.
Book through Open Table and get a great table. The menu upstairs is varied, something for everyone. Wonderful venue for singer/songwriters. A fun night out. Staff is very professional. There is security outside. You can get accompanied to your car, if you need it after the show.
Went and saw Clutch.Acoustics were excelent, drink and food choices were plentiful, garage parking was convenient .
Great little venue with unique character. The creative blend of the old architectural elements and modern decor is worth a look.
A great place for a concern, wonderful food, great atmosphere, and close parking. I've been back many times and am always happy to return. The service is excellent and the venue an intimate way to listen to a performer.
Stopped by for Lunch to see the Famous Guitarist Eric Sommer. Great Service, Good Food. No Drink Specials, however the drinks were very good, and priced typically for the area. They have a Large Concert Venue downstairs. Busy, Business Crowd during lunch. I will be back to see a Night Show, and update my review. Parking is on the street.
I eat lunch here all the time & the food is always good on a regular basis. They have a few tables outside. But what's great is the concert hall area, super intimidate, great view no matter where you stand, it makes your music experience so much more special!
World Cafe Live at the Queen is a great venue! We have been to see some great concerts (including Dave Mason and Sonny Landreth), to a beer dinner, and, most recently, to Delaware Humane Association's Muttini Mixer event. The venue is great, and we like being able to eat, drink, and listen to great music (and dance if we want to...)! It's wonderful to have a seconds great music venue in Wilmington, and the Queen is a more casual, edgier alternative to the Grand. Both are great and both have longstanding histories in Wilmington. We are glad that the Queen has been restored and now shines as one of the best venues in the Philly area to hear some great music! (Having the dogs in attendance at the Muttini Mixer to raise money for a good cause was an added treat!)
I heard about the Queen but never went until Janis Ian came to town. We have gone to the original World Café in Philadelphia and wasn't sure what to expect. What a great place to see a concert and have dinner. The concert was amazing. I closed my eyes and thought I was hearing Janis Ian in 1974. She sounds the same. The staff was very nice and friendly. We really enjoyed ourselves and would attend more events/concerts
Great performance took place last evening in this charming old vaudeville theartre in downtown Wilmington ........Marc Cohn absolutely wowed the audience for nearly 2 hours . We will definetley be checking out future concerts and look forward to returning to the World Cafe Live.
Having recently moved here it is a joy to be so close to live music. We have been impressed each time we went I love jazz but have enjoyed a wide array of music there, each band very good in their style of music from what we saw. We have eaten dinner there and also just ordered "bar food". Other sites rate it pretty high on food and we were pleased as well. Our beer drinking guests were pleased with the beer selection. We have both brought tickets ahead and at the door (for upstairs live music only). The downstairs features a great stage and sound system and can have an open floor to mill around (or dance) or be set up with tables depending on the venue. Go if you can. We are usually not the oldest ones there, but we are not young, either. We will go again. If you listen to "World Café" on PBS, you will like going to the Queen in Wilmington DE, the "sister" nightclub to the one in Philly.
