I used Skylite Boat rentals for a runabout boat to go with our houseboat on Lake Powell. The process was easy and painless. I rented the Donzi to take our guests touring on Lake Powell as well as using toys (boards/tubes). The boat ran well which is the most important part for me when on Lake Powell. The engine was well maintained. They gave me extra oil for the engine and showed me the idiosyncrasies I needed to know. The boat was not in mint condition, nicks in the fiberglass, some small cracks in the seats, etc. All documented before I arrived. It was a good tough boat for what we needed on Lake Powell.
This is our second time renting a boat from this company. This tome we rented it for 3 days. I really appreciated the way they run this place. Price is right and customer service was A+Will rent again.
I made a reservation for a one day power boat rental one month before we were to arrive at Lake Powell. I was told by the person on the phone that there were plenty of boats available that day but it is always a good idea to have a reservation and that I could cancel up to two days before our rental date, so I went ahead with it. Due to a change of plans, I had to cancel one week later. I was told on the phone no problem, reservation cancelled. I found out later that they had charged me a $75 non-refundable reservation charge that they now claimed by their policy was due the second I made the reservation. I tried to talk to their representative but it was obvious that they had this same issue arise many times in the past and they had their pat answers down and would not budge even though charging someone $75 when they clearly had not provided any services and the reservation was cancelled way ahead of time is completely a rip-off. My suggestions to folks, other than reading the other reviewer's problems with Skylite Rentals and to review their website very carefully for other hidden charges and not trust the folks on the phone. For example, I found hidden in their literature that you must have the boat back at their site with all your gear removed and full of fuel. You will be charged a half-day rental if you are more than 10 minutes late. Heaven help you if you are deemed to have scratched of dinged one of their older boats as other reviewers have had the unfortunate experience.
Rented a boat from skyline (Baja 5) . The people were very nice, I believe a family run business, Everything was as said, no hidden fees or any add ons. The boat ran very well but is in need of refurbishing( it was a 2000 ) I would rent from these people again. We rode from Wahweap to Bullfrog and back. Had a great time. I
We did a one day rental and reserved a small Bayliner. When we picked up the boat, the blower wasn't working, but the fixed it fast and gave us extra time to return the boat. They were all super nice and accommodating. We would definitely use them again.
You can't beat the price for these rentals. It is also a great location if you are staying or docking at Lone Rock Campground or Wahweap Marina. However, the equipment is on the older side. We rented 1 Jet Ski for 3 days and paid $531 after taxes plus gas. It was a lot of fun to have. We were there in August which tends to rain a lot in the evenings. Because of the rain it washed a lot of debris onto the shore. The debris would get into the motor of the jet ski and it would take awhile to get it to work again. If the jet ski was running great I would have rated it better. Not quite sure if it was the Jet ski or the debris, but we didn't see anyone else having problems with the debris. We also had a boat there and it didn't have any problems at all. The year before we went in October and the water was a little colder, but no rain or debris at all. All in all it was still fun, just wish it would have worked a little better.
We came from abroad and booked a small boat for 3 days several month in advance. The boat we rented was quite used, which was not a problem for us except for the original cover of the motor that was replaced by a plywood one and tend to be noisy. I must admit we were a little bit anxious that the rental company blame us on the existing stratches on the seats and on various parts of the boat and we took a lot of picture when we picked up the boat. They rent you a truck and a trailer to load and unload the boat which is very convinient because our rented car has no towing hook. As expected, you still have to do quite a lot of back and go to lauch and retrieve the boat but this is the counterpart from a cheaper price. The explanation of the staff was clear and usefull. We had no problem at all with the motor and having an old boat was a relief (not to be too carefull on the three kids putting their feets on the boat seats).Puting back the boat on the trailer requires at least two experienced people (I made the mistake to over estimate my wife skills (she never sailed before) and was help by two very kind people.)When retruning the boat, the staff quickly checked the hull and said it was OK.Our budget was not allowing us to rent boat directly from the marina (rental prices on lake powell are just a shame), so I am greatfull to this company to have set up this system so that we could have the opportunity to visit lake powell.
This is the 3rd year renting a deck boat from Skylite Boat Rentals and I will continue to rent from them in the future. Skylite boats are CLEAN and well maintained. I have never had motor problems. When you pick your boat up at 8am, the staff is well organized and prepared to get you hooked up and on the way to enjoy of full day of boating. I found Skylite online and compared prices to the marina rentals...they are considerably less expensive. Keep in mind that you do have to put the boat in the water but NO BIG DEAL. One year I went with 3 girl friends and we had no problem getting the boat on and off the trailer. The staff at Skylite will walk you through the process. This year my husband and I put a lot of miles on the boat over a three day period. We camped along the way in quiet coves and really did a lot of exploring. What a fantastic time! Thank you Skylite for keeping the boat in top notch condition and problem free. See you next year.
These guys are a great value and close by the lake. I will definitely do business with them again. Thanks for the great weekend at Lake Powell! We rented two wave runners, they had awesome power and ran very smooth.
We took 2 boats. The team was great and nice. We got the best price in the area...Had no problem and they even refer us to their neighbors to take floating boats what made the sailing even more fun.
We rented a boat with Skylite and this was a smooth and easy experience, both for check-in and check-out. I was a little bit worried initially to take the boat on a trailer but putting the boat on the water was easy. The price was very competitive compared to the other renters based in the marinas, so I would definitively rent with them again.
We rented the Chaparral 24.6 boat for 4 days. It had good power and surprisingly lower than expected gas consumption. It was great to work with Skylite. The staff were very friendly, responsive and helpful. We are going to rent from them again. I would recommend stopping in the day before to fill out the paperwork so pick-up is fast the next morning.
We had a very good experience renting a boat from Skylite. We rented a Bayliner for one day in August. The staff was VERY helpful. I called beforehand many times as I had never been to Lake Powell and the staff was very courteous each time I contacted them. The checkout process was very smooth and quick. They went over all of the details of the boat and made sure I understood. The boat itself ran great! The inside is a little worn, but once we packed in all of our gear, we didn't notice. I returned the boat at 6 and they had me out of there 5 minutes later. THANK YOU!One word of warning (unrelated to Skylite): Get a bigger boat if you plan to explore the lake beyond Wahreap Bay. We took the boat up the channel a little bit to Navajo Canyon and it was brutal! The waves and wakes of the big boats in the channel are gigantic and tossed us around. At one point I thought the boat was going to get flipped. No one really warned me of the waves. We turned around and decided to just ski and hang out at Wahreap Bay all day.
We rented a small power boat and had a great time. The personnal at Skylite were friendly and very helpful. This was our second time renting a power boat from Skylite Boat Rentals and both times they were great. I would like to say that I will use their boats again and again.D. Jimenez Walnut, CA
We called a few hours in advance and rented a speedboat at 4 pm that afternoon. The staff was helpful and we loaded a couple tents and a cooler for the night and day. We also rented an tube, for the kids, from the neighbors. We were not missing anything! We found a pretty secluded beach to camp on by map and we really enjoyed our boat!
