This is a very plesant park with lots of green lawn, large trees and ample barbecue pits. Our group had dinner there the first night. There's a large roofed picnic area with good tables and benches. It's on the river and there's a golf course adjacent to it. A great place for a picnic or for camping, clean and pleasant, and very serene.
This was a friendly state park along the river bank that featured camping and trailer sites and not much else, under the trees along the Green River's north bank. Restrooms were clean. No meals or other facilities were available. The fishing and dock area were minimally maintained but OK for a boat launch. Told that some folks swim in the "Green" River river off the dock, but we did not risk that. The river was brown and muddy....not appealing. We did see a Great Blue Heron wading in the river, so there must be some good fish to eat!The area of town around the Park was kind of "depressed" so it felt uncomfortable for us to stay for more than for day use. The golf course nest door offered some recreation, but we did not golf, so it's not part of this review. All in all a very average riverside park and simple state run recreation facility under the cottonwood and mixed growth trees along the Green River. We ended up staying at the Super 8 just a mile away towards the I-70 interchange...see separate review.
...We were in Green River again, and had some extra time.. The girls wanted to go swimming in the river and have a picnic lunch. We went to this park again for lunch, and again it's great! It's in town, very quiet, has camping facilities (which are very nice). The river is never green; it's always muddy and brown looking. The swimming is nice right off the boat dock. Don't know if we're supposed to be doing it, but no one stopped us. It is very green and well taken care of. It's a hidden gem. There is a golf course there also. Had a nice enjoyable afternoon. This time the wind was not blowing 75 mph. When it is very hot in Green River (which is quite a lot), it's nice to be able to jump into a river and have some fun...
This beautiful little park is perfect for camping. The showers are hot and the bathrooms are clean. We always appreciate flush toilets when we're camping! This is a perfect central place to set up base camp which is one hour north of Arches and Moab; one hour east of Goblin Valley and Little Wild Horse Canyon. The only drawback is the train tracks run near the camp and we had trains come through every night/early morning. The kids thought that was cool.
The area is a green oasis next to the river. There is camping close in and picnic tables under trees. It's quiet and congenial.
We stayed at the Green River State Park while traveling through Utah. It was a stop over, but we ended up staying 2 days because it was so peaceful and the atmosphere was great. We almost past by the entrance to this park; it is hidden off of the main road. Due to the time of year, the park had a lot of sites to choose from. The park is in town but you wouldn't know it. It has a lot of cottonwood trees and grass everywhere. The sites are big, shady, restrooms were clean with hot water. There is a train that goes over the Green River but it was far enough away that noise was not a factor. There is a boat dock and while we were there, people where taking off on boat tours down the Green River. We were able to do some grocery shopping while there and the dogs loved the wide open space and all the areas to walk them. We travel in a motorhome with tow vehicle. We would stay here again if traveling through.
This is a very nice State Park. It is small - offers camping, boating, fishing, and day use. There is a fee for day use - unfortunately, we could not find anyone to take our $$$$. We had a nice little lunch here, and there is "swimming" right next to the boat dock. I don't know if we were supposed to, but we did!!!! THere is plenty of shade, and there's a golf course right next door (if you have a mind to). We enjoyed to quiet and the rest and relaxation. This park isnt used that much (of course, there isn't much in Green River that is crowded). The wind was blowing about 70 mph that day, so it was a bit rough, but all in all, it is a nice little park. Don't let any bad reviews fool you.
This is indeed a unique website as another reviewer stated. We planned our trip to Moab, UT and the campground in Arches National Park was full. We didn’t want to take the risk of driving 5 hours from Denver to a first-come first-serve site and have nothing to stay in. So we decided on Green River State Park. Sites were $16 for tent and $20 for RV. We got an RV site b/c they were the only ones available. It’s approximately one hour away from Moab in the town of Green River. It’s in the middle of a golf course, couple of houses, and businesses. It is a small state park but have very spacious campsites. It has a boat dock towards the end of the park, clean bathrooms near the entrance, and free warm showers. The railroad track is near the park so you will hear it pretty loudly during the day and even at night. I didn’t wake up to it but just happened to be up gazing at the stars through our tent and that is when I heard it. In the middle of the day a tractor was working on something. The campground wasn’t completely full so it was quiet as far as the people in campground were concerned. I would recommend this site if you are willing to drive one hour to Moab. Also, if you are a deep sleeper or just wear yourself out doing hikes during the day as to not hear the train at night.
This very little state park might be okay if you are camping, but I wouldn't bother visiting it at all. You can launch a boat from there though if you want to do that. You do have to pay a fee to get in the park for day use. You are surrounded by a golf course, so you can not go to any of the green grassy areas because they are on the golf course. You can't even go for a picnic as there is only one little picnic area and depending on the time of year, it might not even be available to use. We were very disappointed in it. We stayed for about 10 min and drove around hoping that we had missed something but we didn't.
Finding a shady tree in the desert in=is not easy but at Green river state park this camp ground is a must for camping lite. With showers, flush toilets and electric hook ups it alllows you to spend a pleasant evening in a place not to far removed from civilization. It is conveniently located in the center of Capitol reef, Moab and the San Rafael Swell.
It was great. Very friendly people running camp. Lots of shade and green grass. Very nice bathrooms and showers. Would camp there again.
Green - secure. Adjacent to the river. Nice facilities
