If you'd like a ski area with a great variety of terrain, huge open spaces, reasonable prices, and friendly people, you will be happy here. Probably a 40-ish minute drive from Ogden (which is about 30 min North of Salt Lake City) parking is free and close. The southern portion of the mountain is mellow, open, with fun tree-skiing. The more challenging part of the terrain is accessed up on Lightning Ridge. This side of the area is where the more interesting challenges are for expert skiers. If the snow is good, take the snow-cat ($19/ride) up to the top of Lightning Ridge. Consider hiking to the top of James Peak, about 40 minutes. If the snow is not good, the north-facing runs off Lightning Ridge hold up pretty well. Life tickets: $69. Lodge is old, basic. Overall, a good family place because of the variety of terrain and decent prices.

Really enjoyed skiing here. Even tho conditions weren't great for skiing. Resort was small enough where you couldn't get lost. Has someNice long runs and lots of hills for different levelsWill be going back

Its like stepping back in time, wear and tear, needs updating. But we still love going to this place. Best skiing in Utah, I can deal with the lodge.

Powder Mountain has evolved since the Olympics but still is not the huge bucks destination resorts some of its neighbors are. And it has lots of powder in the land of lots of powder.Try this little option rather than the over groomed, overpriced, overdressed resorts!

This has been my favorite mountain to ski, but the last couple years the character, and charm are missing. It used to be comfortable and inviting and now it is ran just as a business. It is more crowded than ever with no upgrades to the lifts, or lodges. The lodges are crowded, and the food has gone down hill for the past 2 seasons. With little space, and no food options, eating in your cold car is almost a better option. The mountain has so much potential, but is under new ownership, here's hoping they make some improvements. I would still try it out the skiing is amazing, just don't go hoping for any kind of customer service.

We have skiied in Utah for 7 years and Powder Mountain is our favorite resort. Great skiing, great views, and good lift ticket prices. We would like it if they would offer a larger area for those bringing lunches from home either outside or inside. Otherwise no complaints. Great mountain and look forward to our next trip there.

Although I'm not an expert, this was one of the best places I've ever gone snowboarding. In Utah I've been to Snow Basin and Sundance. Snow Basin was probably the best but way more expensive. If I was going to get a season pass I'd go with Snow Basin because there are more track options but If you are just going once or for a few days, I might suggest Powder Mountain. Some areas were WAY TOO POWDERY! 6 inches (Green runs) of powder was heaven. 2 feet (Blue, Black, etc) of powder is ridiculous, for someone like me at least. We were able to get a pass for only one of the lifts (Sundown) for less than $40 and the whole mountain was $60ish.

Between Snowbasin and Powder Mt. Both bear Ogden, Utah I would have to say Powder Mt. Wins hands down. Yes, it is vintage but that is the charm....and staff is friendly from lift operators to office folks....great people. Skiing was wonderful with real snow and very little icy runs or crusty runs like their competitor. Give it a try...you will love it!.

Powder Mountain is a no frills ski mountain that delivers excellent powder skiing with a variety of terrain. No crowds and lots of skiable terrain ensures the ability to find untracked snow. The facilities are definitely 1960's vintage, so don't expect anything feeling like a resort. Lots of locals suggested that driving up the access road was awful and best avoided by taking the bus, but it just didn't seem that bad to us. Make sure to ski Powder Country, an area off to the side of the ski area that requires you to take a shuttle bus from the access road back to the lifts.

Overall WOW!!!! Our ski group rolled up and right away we were greeted and asked if we would like a tour of the mountain. Then off to the mountain I can not say enough good about this resort, everyone was genuine and just loved their jobs and working for the resort. The terrain was just awesome along with the snow. We are already planning our next trip to this slice of heaven on Earth.

This is a Ski Mountain not a Resort... it is what it is, like it or leave it. No white glove treatment here, but if you want pure skiing, no crowds... this is your place.

This is THE PLACE for powder days. They groom some runs but the off run areas are spectacular. The lifts are all open but efficient, so wear an extra layer. The cost is much less than other resorts but you have to wait on natural snow...and the road up is "quite" a challenge.

Powder Mountain is a great place to ski. It's not as crowded as Snowbasin, so you can get more runs in and not be concerned about being plowed over by a snowboarder. This is where the hard core skiers go in the Ogden area who are willing to trade luxury for less crowds and pure, real (they don't have snowmaking machines) snow!

I just skied my first day at Powder. Mountain. I loved it. It's late in the season, but fortunately they got some decent snow last week. This place was not crowded at all even during Utah spring break. No lift lines. The slopes are a amazing. The whole place is open to skiing. I hardly saw any off limits areas, and saw some ski and snow board tracks through some incredibly tough terrain. They do groom a lot of slopes, but I found a lot of fun on non groomed areas that fit my skill level. Everybody was very friendly. The ski shop is small, though and the one food area that we ate at was pretty small. We didn't mind because the place was not crowded. And this place is huge. I did hear there are new owners that plan on at least expanding the ski shop and probably more starting this summer.
