Family of four enjoyed a great tour of the valley. Duffy did a great job of combining geology, horticulture,history and culture of the land and his people. We made maybe a dozen or more stops along the way.

We took the afternoon 2 1/2 hr tour and our guide was Duffy. He was an amazing friendly guide, very informative and the most educational and enjoyable tour. He was giving us insight to the Monuments where movies were made and all history behind the native Navajos. He played a beautiful flute to us and the echo was amazing" The views, the spiritual silence, the sun, the sky, everything was beautiful.My husband , my 4 year old daughter and I took this tour, my daughter was very entertained playing with dirt and enthusiastic when Duffy started playing the flute to us.We would definitely recommend Monument Valley Safari tours .Monument Valley is one of the most beautiful and breathtaking place in the world.

My wife and I booked a 21/2 hour tour with Safari largely on the strength of previous Trip Advisor reviews. We were not disappointed. The tour was the best way to appreciate the awesome beauty of the Monument Valley. Our guide, Bobby, took us to some breathtaking areas and was very knowledgeable about the geological formations and the history, both ancient and modern, of the Navaho living in the area. He was also able to relate some great stories about movies filmed there from John Wayne to Johnny Depp. We highly recommend Bobby and Safari Tours.

I love driving through here but I also love getting out of the car and walking through the desert where you can. This is the most amazing beautiful place and so worth the drive to see. Never drive through here at night or you will be so sad when you see what you missed.

Our guide Tony picked us up in the lobby of The View hotel and we had a 2.5 hour tour. There were just the two of us on the tour and Tony was happy to step as we wanted. We got some great pictures and Tony shared lots of information.

We took the 2 1/2 hr. Scenic & Cultural Safari tour. It was wonderfu! My husband is a big fan of John Wayne movies so he recognized many of the scenes from the old movies. We were able to stop and get out several times to see petroglyphs, Ear in the Wind, John Ford's Point, and others. Our guide was Bobby and he was very knowledgeable and open to any questions. Definitely worth the time and money.

When we arrived at the View Hotel, the sky was over cast with a chance of snow for the next day. We got up the next morning to find several inches of snow covering the valley. Tony arrived promptly at the hotel for our tour. The four wheel drive suburban handled the snow easily. We were able to see all of the back country of Monument Valley and part of the portion on the scenic drive before lunch. After lunch the snow was falling heavily enough where we would not be able to see anything. So we cut the tour short. Tony was very knowledgeable and friendly. He answered all of our questions. I highly recommend the combination safaris. The 6 hour tour is well worth the money. I only wish the weather had been better so that we could have completed the tour.

They were prompt in email responses, even on Xmas. Scheduled a 3 hour photo tour, 1 person, private. Met Tony as scheduled in the View lobby. He was prompt and easy-going. Stopped where I wanted to stop, didn't overdo his narration. Had a great tour. Cost was $120. Tipped him another $60, he was that good. Definitely do a back country tour, you see so much more than the auto loop.

We travelled from Sedona to Monument Valley and get caught in traffic. Being from the UK we also got caught in the different time zones and we arrived one hour later than we thought. Due to the above mistakes the last trip of the day had already left. We rang the company and there was no problem in setting up a private trip just for our family. The trip was done in a beaten up 4x4 but it made the trip even better. The guide, Sky, was talkative and friendly and couldn't do enough for us.

We took the Lower Monument Valley 3 hour tour in the morning and the Mystery Valley 3 hour tour in the afternoon. Both were great tours and were very different from each other. Our guide was Bobby and he made the trip very interesting with information about the formations, the area, the Navajo People and generally any question we had was answered. We learned about his culture, the history of the park, a bit about geology and formation of the Monuments. He was great about pointing out photo opportunities and highlights. The morning tour was entirely spent visiting the formations of Monument Valley and yes, the terrain is rough, but the two Suburbans we rode in were newer models, clean and very comfortable. When you are traveling on dirt roads and off-road it is going to be rough riding. The afternoon tour of the Mystery Valley was more about dwellings, pictographs and petroglyphs. There were a half dozen or so dwelling sites that we were able to climb up to. But you must be sure footed, have good balance and be unafraid of heights to do this. They are easily visible from the ground too. The pictographs and petroglyphs were easily viewable. One location had many pottery shards. Bobby played his flute for us once on each tour. The acoustics were amazing and he is an accomplished player. We ended the afternoon on a high overlook shortly before sunset. We would highly recommend both tours.

Our party of four chose the Combination Tour, with Monument Valley in the morning and Mystery Valley in the afternoon. It was a pleasure to spend the day with Bobby wheeling through the public route and all the restricted areas as well. We were impressed by his knowledge, his willingness to answer any and all questions, and his confident driving in the rough country. We highly recommend taking a tour of Monument Valley rather than limiting yourself to the self-drive route: it's great to see the mittens and all the other sights familiar from movies, but it is especially thrilling to see the arches in the restricted area.Mystery Valley offers a very different experience from Monument Valley (though within the same tribal park). You can climb to dwellings built into the cliff-sides, see ancient granaries, and get close to petroglyphs and pictographs. The terrain is very different with much more vegetation, and the tracks are rough and --at times-- thrilling.

This was on our bucket list on our trip across the U.S. and we made reservations weeks in advance for the 3.5 hour guided tour of Monument Valley. Our guide drove an older Chevy suburban which was quite uncomfortable to begin with. Racing over this rocky, rutted terrain was almost unbearable. It was a 3.5 hour endurance contest and we were relieved when it was over.Our guide, unfortunately, was a non talker. We couldn't believe he had no stories for us. We asked so many questions and received such a small inadequate response that we finally gave up trying. He just did not want to talk or did not know what to say. He would rush from formation to formation, tell us the native name, then tell us to get out of the car to take pictures as if that was the sole purpose of the safari. We were dropped off at a hut and for a fee we were allowed to go in and watch a Navajo lady spin wool. Here is what I recommend if you want to do this. Write down the guides names that other reviewers said were excellent and specifically ask for that guide and when you get there and they tell you he is not available DON'T take anyone else like we did. $180...we were extremely disappointed!!

The tour of Monument Valley with Bobby was the highlight of our vacation. He not only showed us the Valley, including places in the restricted areas like the "Ear of the Wind", the "Eye of the Sun" and the "Totem Pole", he also shared with us lots of information about the Navajo culture. The restricted area roads, if they can even be called that, are rough, rutted and difficult to drive on but he made the ride as comfortable as he could. I highly recommend the 3.5 hour tour.

We took a 3 1/2 hour sunset tour with Monument Valley Safari at the end of October. It was well worth it. Our guide Duffy was the best. He took pictures of us that are absolutely perfect and will only add to the great memories of our experience. In addition to the information he gave us about the locations we visited, he also played his flute at several stops along the tour. We are so glad we did it, the whole experience was well above what we had hoped it would be.
