It is very hard to take in there is so much to see! The shapes and colors are extraordinary! Take your time, and know as much as possible.
if you can visit in the winter - and it's not blowing cold - then this is a must see spot.Even though we couldn't see most of the Bryce due to Park service poor leadership in getting the roads plowed ( see my review on the park), this was worth it.Easy access. I love the fact that wheelchairs can access many view points too.
Again, no really bad views from the rim. We visited mid/late afternoon so the sun was to our right (south). This point looks due east, hence the Sunrise name, would be spectacular I'm sure at sunrise.
The view from Sunrise Point is great, just like the many viewpoints in Bryce. The best thing about Sunset Point is that it is a good spot to start a great hike through the canyon. We recommend the Queen's Garden/Navajo Loop combo, adding on Peek-A-Boo Loop for the real nature lovers.
The sunrise over Bryce is awesome. Make sure your cameras are charged as I can guarantee you will take a thousand shots. Just beautiful
It is well worth getting up early wrapping up warm waiting for the sun to rise not only for the shadows that are created but for the suns rays shining through the Hoodoos making other images
I am not one to get up before dawn - but as we were staying at the Lodge, and it was only a short walk to the rim, we decided to see the sun rise over the canyon. So, a ten minute walk in the dark, chilly morning brought us to Sunrise Point. We thought we would be early, but the tripods and cameras were all set up before we arrive. I had to squeeze into a spot. As the sun rose over the rim of the canyon, it illuminated the hoodoos before us. Magical. Bundle up - hat and gloves if you have them, and get your camera set. Then off to the Lodge for a breakfast buffet.
We had been here a year and a half ago in January, 2013. The point was covered in snow and a different scene than we saw today with the autumn leaves. Both sunrises were beautiful, but this time was definitely more populated and less tranquil. Not really crowded, but not quiet and peaceful as in January.
the sunrise through the rocks of Bryce Canyon is breathtaking especially on a warm morning but be careful the evenings and early morning s can be quite chilly in October
As you walk along the rim, each of these overlooks is unique, amazing, and worth spending some time to drink in the visual splendor before you.
On my trip to Bruce, aside from driving to other lookouts, this was one point where we stopped to hike. The navajo loop trail can be started from here, as well as the detour to the queens garden. You can start at sunset point if you wish, but I feel the views are slightly better if you start at sunrise point earlier in the day. As with every other observation point in the park, the views are breath taking. To avoid larger groups of tourists, visit sunrise point during sunset, and sunset point during sunrise. Each lookout looks great at both times of day. Either way, be sure to take the couple hours to start or end a hike at this location.
I have thought for years that Sunset and Sunrise points are way overhyped for viewing at those times of day. Inspiration point, or Bryce point, or even reversing sunset/sunrise for that time of day, are all preferred (by me) because the views are JUST as good and sometimes even BETTER ... and there aren't those crowds of other tourists who think "it's named this, I guess I have to go then??" ...nope - be a smarter tourist, and hit up one of the other points. Obviously, still go to sunrise point - but consider it as just another glorious point view in the amazing Bryce drive. :)
The colours and views on a fine day give a magical look to the Hoodoos. Be prepared for crowds as this is a popular spot and many bus loads of people are here, but do not let that put you off it is worth it.
Got a great view early in the morning there! We were only briefly there, so we only went to Sunrise point early in the morning (so early that we didn't even got an opportunity to pay the park fee).In the future, I'd make sure to get tot Bryce before Sundown and watch the sun go under as well.
This view is out of this World. You just got to see this and maybe take a hike in the Canyon. Remember Water on a hot day. If you visit Sunrise Point in September, you will not meet too many people
