This is a short hike. Very nice view. It was a bit steep. But nothing we couldn't handle. Parking was good. In a Residential area
For the traveler not familiar with the history of Salt Lake City, this is a must stop! The hike is short, though the trail can have some gravel on it. Be careful with very young children or the elderly/not so mobile. We hike with a family group to the marker at the top. Fun, and just the right adventure level for a quiet afternoon outing.
Really nice hike, while it is uphill most of the way it isn't difficult. Fantastic view of the city and the Great Salt Lake. Interesting history of the peak with a monument on top.
Easy to find the trailhead on GPS, short and sweet hike, great panoramic views of the Valley. Great at sunset as well.
I had never heard of Ensign Peak but saw it from a distance one day so I hiked it....in a dress....with a 2 year old.....in February. At the top I sang "High on a Mountain Top" out loud because I felt like it. ;-) Good thing there was no one else up there.
Although the trail is all up hill, it's short and easy to hike for any age. The view from the top is amazing!
This is a great short hike you can do with your kids. The view is breath taking. A fun hike to take visitors to. The trail is easily marked. Bring a flashlight if going in the afternoon or evening.
it is close to the city center. the trail is well marked and pretty easy if there is no rain. the view on top is great. should not miss it if you travel to salt lake city.
Ensign Peak is a good hike also to do with the family, it's a little bit steep at points, but the path is not to difficult, at the top you find an pillar erected with info about the Pioneers who came to this Salt Lake Valley, also at the beginning of the trail is info to read, so it is educational as well. Beware in the fall or early spring cougars have been sited, it is not wise to go alone, make a lot of noise, that might help, I hiked it several times in a groep, beautiful view from the top.
A relatively short hike, although steep at parts. The view from the top is wonderful. We had a wonderful 90 minutes as a family and would recommend it to anybody. If you're from sea level like us, I recommend taking your time.
The view is worth the time to hike up the hill. Not a long distance, but a good vertical incline. Make sure it is a clear day outside to get the value as you can see for miles.
A great hike not requiring hiking boots. Trail is well marked off. Incredible views of SLC and Salt Lake. Worth the time and effort. Sunset is a must!
No hiking boots needed and accessible for little children. Great view of the city where founders planned it all out.
The park is very nice - you get to see salt lake city and the views are amazing. The hike to the top isn't too bad, maybe took us a total of 45 minutes to get to the top and back to the bottom.
