Don't get me wrong; the capitol building is amazing in itself. The architecture and the park are beautiful. But what really made it worth it was the amazing view you got once you climbed all the stairs, because you can see all the mountains surrounding the city and all of downtown. Make sure you go there at sunset!!! It's simply breathtaking.

The Utah Capitol building is a gorgeous example of neo classical architecture. The staff is friendly and the grounds are well maintained. Go inside to see the beautiful marble interior and historical murals.

We hiked Ensign Peak and took the kids to the capital after. We had a great time walking around showing them everything. I think if you need something to do on a Sunday this is a great place to go.

We love to visit the capitols in the states we are visiting. We went on a weekend - so . .no tour (only time we could get there.) It was truly deserted, but we enjoyed it none-the-less. There are displays about Utah and you can learn so much. The marble walls and floor are so unique. An added special treat - there was a photo shoot happening with a couple of girls who were just out of high school. It was fun to visit with them and hear their story. We did not walk around outside at the Memorial Park as it was much too hot.

This is a nice, bright, well-kept building with great views from the steps. Very impressive. Watched the House and Senate while is session. Very interesting.

I am from Boston and I toured the Utah State Capitol with my 89 year old father who was in an electric scooter. The tour is fantastic and highly informative. To visit the chambers and the former home of the state Supreme Court, to learn the history and some of the stories behind the story. The people giving the tour are volunteers and do an incredible job. They were very helpful in making sure dad could hear what they were saying and waited as we took the elevator.Do not miss the ornate and beautiful paintings on the ceiling!

Beautiful building! I love coming up State Street and looking at the main entrance with all the stairs. The stairs inside are stunning! Love the lions on the west side too. It's a shame so many old trees on the grounds were lost a few years ago...

I live up the hill from the Capital and it is so beautiful to drive by this property everyday. They maintain it and the grounds and it of course is a great symbol of our area.....It makes for a GREAT photo op.

An interesting and informative location for both Utah history and fine architecture. The inside of the building is fascinating.

The drive to the Capitol has a very nice view. When you are walking around the outside of the capitol, you have a great view of Salt lake city valley. the grounds around the capitol are very clean and pretty.

It's absolutely worth going. It's scenic, especially at night with artificial lights. Also, there is a pretty cool view of the city from up there.

the building is pretty cool, the artwork, statues and marble pillars and floor make for a rather impressive looking structure, there are 3 floors and the outside view of the city is even better than when on the roof of the lds conference center, but you kinda have to wonder how much this luxurious government building cost and whether they could have used the money for something else.

After my visit I would suggest this is a "don't miss it". The imposing building sits high above SLC providing excellent vistas in all directions, across downtown to the airport and beyond to the Great Salt Lake and the mountains beyond. Inside were excellently maintained functional rooms used for Utah state's government and administration - see into the Senate Room for instance. Downstairs were some interesting information points and displays about the development of Utah, its industries, its film-making heritage, its assumption as the 45th US state and an explanation of its nickname as the "beehive" state. Very imposing building and a feeling of being close to the state's government.
