Terrific views of Northrup Falls with trail behind the falls. Be careful around the falls especially in winter weather. Nice trail loop and not too strenuous for a quick hike.
This was very hard to find. It is not well marked, in fact, had I not read that this place also goes by the name Northrup Falls, I don't know if we ever would have found it.We drove and drove and drove and decided to turn around at the next road which was called Northrup Falls. We decided to follow the road and ultimately found the place. We visited this park with our two children ages 3 and 7 months. We used a stroller for the baby until we got to the first view of the waterfall and had to leave the stroller behind because the tree roots on the path were getting to big to push the stroller over. The trails are not marked at all. You just follow the "path".We ended up making a few wrong turns before we found a path that lead us to some rock formations that were absolutely breathtaking. We hiked down a ways and found the view to be spectacular. We ultimately reached a point that just wasn't safe for us to go any further with the children, so we headed back. Our three year old needed minimal assistance in climbing. There are sudden cliffs that are not marked, so use caution!
What a great place to bring the family! The hike is short but filled with beauty. We highly recommend it!
Pouring down rain when we visited here, but it was really nice. It's an easy hike with a great view. We pretty much had it all to ourselves. Enjoyed it thoroughly.
Great place to visit while near Big South Fork. We stopped by on the way back home. With an easy hike to the overlook, we enjoyed the beautiful rock outcroppings on the way to walk behind the gorgeous Northrup Falls.
Love this natural area. Easy access to the overlook and wonderful trail circling and going under the falls. Moderate difficulty but my 85 year old Mother made the hike.
. very nice I enjoy alot of natural and educational places, and have visited these places alot on and off for years, I have enjoyed every visit. I would encourage visits for family or "me time" hugs love
This is one of my favorite places to go. I grew up in the area, so I have very fond memories of the falls. From the nature enthusiast go the beginning hiker this trail will not disappoint. Just be careful, it can be slippery.
I really enjoyed CCSNA. Frankly, if you enjoy the outdoors you can never go wrong with a Tennessee State Natural Area. (I almost prefer them over state parks) From the parking area, a ~2 mile loop trail (fairly easy) will take you by some overlooks, through a gorge, and behind a 60 ft. waterfall (caution: slick). It’s really peaceful. The general area is full of destinations for the outdoor enthusiast: Big South Fork, Pickett State Park, and Rugby.
