These guys were great! First, we set up a 2 days rental, but when it was rainy the first day, we called and they let us push our reservation back a day. No problem! Second, the boat was beautiful. It looked brand new and and worked perfectly. The gas was reasonable, about $80 for 2 days. We fished, swam, went sight seeing. It was awesome! Great way to spend time at the lake.
We visited Douglas Lake last minute over the 4th of July weekend. Pleasantly surprised to find that there were still boats available to rent both Saturday and Sunday. Very reasonably priced and well maintained. Friendly staff.
We rented a pontoon for a full day during the week for $21-284th with tax and a tube for pulling the kids. We thought it was a fair price and better than what we could get in Ky-our home. The guys at the marina were friendly to us in greeting. My husband knows boats so we didn't need much help. After basic instructions we left the dock and had a fantastic day. The lake is clean and it wasn't crowded. We had a wonderful day. The pontoon could pull onen on the tube at a decent speed, it was clean, plenty big enough, ran smooth, full of gas, great radio. We filled the tank upon returning-$5 gallon-average at a marina we've found. Check them out. It was fun!
I am offended by a couple of the untrue reviews I just read. We have been with this marina for a long time. Anytime we have needed help they have been great! If there's a problem with any of our things, they know who to call. Blue Smith is a great guy and we will continue to dock there. The most helpful person ever is Brad Jackson. Every time I come to marina he smiles and greets me immediately, asks how We are doing and if there is anything he can help with. He's just got that personality that you can't help but to like. Every employee there goes above and beyond to make sure we have what we need. They are great at winterizing and storing our boat and jet skis and they get them lake ready every year. Keep up the great job guys.
I have discovered the pleasure of Douglas Lake a few years ago. After seeing and doing just about everything these parts of Tennessee has to offer, pontoon boating has been become the most enjoyable experience of our Smoky Mountain vacation. This is the first time that we have used Lighthouse Point Marina and we were pleasantly surprised. The dock was so much better than the competition's. A dock worker was able to drive a gulf cart on the dock and transport our cooler and our disabled passenger all the way to the boat. We had an awesome parking spot next to the dock unlike the neighboring marina who makes you park way up on a hill in a church's parking lot with no assistance for the supplies. Although this is a small company the great service, honesty and integrity far outshines the competition's. I was impressed with the differences we have experienced. These guys handed me clean life jackets that fit my children. Also the pontoon boat was newer and cleaner with more horse power than the local competition. This boat had a functional depth finder and a functional latter. My son wanted to rent a water tube and the workers gave me a heads up about the water being pretty cold. They were willing to loose some money for an additional rental to make sure we understood what we were getting ourselves into. Most people don't water tube in May but my kids are from up north and they are polar bears. LOL and they enjoyed themselves completely. They refueled the boat right in front of us and made sure that I only paid the the fuel that we used which was less than $40. for the entire day. The competition wants to charge for the fuel that we could use opposed to the amount we used. We were forewarned that the fuel could be anywhere from 30-100 depending how we drive. We have received better service with a better product for 1/3 the cost of the business next-door. These things are like night and day from their competition and has now made me have a higher expectation for my future endeavors.
As this issue has been addressed in another forum, I would only like to say once again that I apologize for the misunderstanding. If these concerns had been brought to my attention during or directly after your rental, I am confident we could have reached a satisfactory conclusion. As it is, i am sorry for your experience and I hope that in the future you will give us another opportunity to earn your business.
TravelingFamiliesFirst, thank you for the clarifications and noting your concerns in your review. The pictures have been corrected. To address your other concerns:Yes, the marina is dimly lit. There is a reason for that, though. There is a saying that "bright lights blind boaters". Bright white light on the water is very dangerous for nighttime navigation. We use soft, amber lighting that illuminates without hampering night vision. It also reduces the flying insect population, which our tenants appreciate.Lighthouse Pointe, to my knowledge, is the only marina on Douglas Lake to provide tenants with shower facilities. The water is heated by propane. When the propane runs out, it is a simple matter to refill it. Unfortunately, until we are made aware of the issue, we cant resolve it. We are in the process of switching to an electric heater to resolve this issue. The storm you are referencing that broke our wave breaks and prevented us from pumping gas was more than a mere thunder shower. Similar storms on our lake have forced other marinas to close for up to a year. It is a testament to our employees and contractors that we were only closed for a few days. The storm destroyed our entire gas infrastructure, yet we were pumping gas again in less than a month (July 12-Aug 6, to be exact). It is also a testament to the strength and quality of our docks that the vast majority of boats received no damage at all during this storm. On a "lighter" note, I also appreciate the obvious concern for my health. I'm sure you'll be pleased to know that I have lost considerable weight since last spring, and while no one would yet consider me svelte, I am working on it. In all seriousness, I do take your concerns to heart, and I am constantly striving to improve the marina, as well as my managerial and customer service skills. I only wish these issues had been raised in a manner that would have given us an opportunity to discuss and/or attempt to correct them earlier. I do apologize once again for your poor experience, and I hope that in the future you will give us another opportunity to serve you.
Thanks so much for the great review. We love helping families get out and enjoy Douglas Lake. Hope to see you again soon. Sorry for the delayed response. I'm just now figuring out this whole"internet" thing.
We were looking to spend a day on the lake while we were in the Gatlinburg area with our family, and Lighthouse Point was one of the few marinas that had ski boats available for rent. They were incredibly helpful over the phone, and took care of us when we arrived. We brought our own kids skis (they don't rent them for kids) and rented a tube and skis for my husband and I when we got there. The guys hooked us up with everything we needed and sent us on our way. This is a gorgeous lake, and our family had a blast on the water all day thanks to Lighthouse Point! Highly recommended!
