About 4 miles off I-75 on the west edge of Jellico, KY. Small lake with paddle boats, 1 mile walking trail along one lake, and 3/4 mile trail around another. Showers hot, restroom clean. Trees, quiet, and as it's late October, great colors on the hills around us. Lovely spot to stop for a night or two.
went through the entrance couldn't find the park , LOL and drove forever so where was the park sam I am,wheres the green eggs and ham
Beautiful park, fogging morning husband hit gate as there is no reflector tape or light on gate. There should be some way to flag it open or closed. At least 3 stayed for free as no one there to take camping fees for the ones who came inlate at night and left the next morning. Glad the had a few garbage cans back as last year critters got into garbage bag we were told to set out by the road.
Beautiful views, great one-mile walking path, paddle boats to rent, clean bathrooms. Excellent for group camps.
I stopped by to check the park out on my way home from Kentucky. It has a nice, small lake with paddleboats for rent. I believe the boats rent for $3.50 per hour. There is a paved trail for walking or riding bikes, picnic pavillions and a campground. The restrooms were very clean and nice and the staff renting the paddleboats was friendly and helpful.
There nothing todo. The trails are to short the restrooms are dirty. My husband said he saw a spider in the men's restroom My 10 year old was so bored she sat down and played games on her phone my 7 year old claimed she saw trash and dog poop and my 5 year old got hurt on something on the playground and a goose attracted my 7 year old. I recommend you not to go. They need to make it more amusing, clean the park, and make the playground more safe
Excellent gathering areas for get togethers. Spaced out well so you are not right on top of others. Serene lake, great wilderness walking path, well maintained. The family has used this place for years and years and it is always easy in and out. Clean and decently comfortable.
we have camped for many years all over the u.s. and i can honestly say this is one place where we did not feel comfortable. it was a weekend, and it seemed that the most popular pastime for locals was driving thru the park. there was a constant stream of cars and trucks passing by. at one point a pickup pulled up at the bath house and the three young guys took turns showering. there is a gate at the entrance but it did not prevent anyone from entering after hours. not going back there.
This was a great site for our family reunion. Beautiful trails. Well maintained park. I was happy to see Jellico take pride in their park. Nice view of Indian Mountain.
Beautiful trails, picnicking, or just eating lunch in the car if the weather is bad, it is a lovely park.
IMSP, near the Kentucky and Tennessee border in Jellico, TN (about 10 minutes off the I-75 exit), is located on an abandoned strip mine. Needless to say, there’s not a lot of shade in the campsites, however the picnic sites are located under shade. When life gives you lemons you make lemonade. Its evident that a lot of restoration has gone into this park. Kudos to the Tennessee State Park folks for its excellent restoration project. This park (as well as Gee Creek at Hiwassee State Scenic River) serves as proof that nature can be restored with man’s help. It’s a beautiful park worth visiting, but in 5 years it will be really nice park for rest and relaxation. Stay tuned.
