In Nashville for the holiday and got in two rounds on President's course and one on General. President's is a much more engaging design, but both offer a good challenge in a lovely parkland setting. Also pleasant, helpful and accommodating staff. Not sure there's any better public access track near Music City.
Recently played the Hermitage President's Reserve with some friends in from out of town. The course is very well kept and beautifully designed. Everyone is friendly and helpful and the cost was way less than some of the top public courses we've played. It's the best public golf in Nashville with beautiful views
Excellent courses, President is better course, but both manicured and scenic. Fast pace of play. Friendly staff. Must play!
We got an early tee time and played 18 holes (2some) in three and a half hours. And the rumor that they have sheep is true too.
Friends an I played The Presidents Reserve today. It is easily the best public course in Nashville. The pace is excellent as well as the staff . The course is in excellent shape ,fairways and greens are as close to perfect as you could ask . We'll be back soon. Really good operation.
Recently played in Corporate outing at the Hermitage Golf Course, General's Retreat course (There are two 18 hole courses on site). They have a really nice driving range and putting green to work on your game before you go out to play. Greens were in excellent shape, as were the fairways. This is the third time I have played this course and every time the course is in excellent shape. Course is challenging, but not just for low handicap players. Great course to play if you are in the Nashville area.
Played the President's course first ($73 weekend rate). Course was in great shape and it was an awesome layout. Zoysia fairways and bentgrass greens. Some winter kill in the fairways but nothing to complain about as most courses across the country suffered from the harsh winter. Bunkers were in great shape even after heavy rains the day before. Played with a couple of local members who were super friendly and happy to show an out-of-towner around their great track. Did a replay on the Generals course ($27 replay rate). Course was shorter and tighter than the other one. Faster and more sloping mini-verde greens were in great shape. Fairways suffered much more winter kill than the other side. Great old style layout with longish par 3's and shorter par 4's that force you to work the ball both ways. Friendly and helpful golf shop staff. Lady at the Half-Way house was also friendly. Saw the beverage carts a lot during both rounds. Super cool Black Faced Sheep all over the course. Nice touch by the ownership. Go and play at this place.... I don't think you will be disappointed!!!
Played the the new course (Presidents Reserve) on a Thursday morning. Service was great before and after our game. The rental clubs are fine. We got rained out after nine but based on the 1st nine the course is in excellent shape. This is a first class facility and better than many private clubs. Seventy bucks for the round, cart and range balls is not expensive for a setup like this.
We were able to get reservations a couple of days in advance. We wanted T times for the Presidents Reserve, but played the General's Retreat instead. The price was only $60 per person and included carts. The course was in great shape and was a very fair course for golfers of all ages. I liked the fact there were markers for novices from which new golfers or those who struggle with getting down the fairway could t off from and enhance the pace of play for all. The tree lined fairways, water and strategically placed sand traps presented a challenge while allowing a casual weekend golfer the ability to score well, and have a great day of golf. As a woman, I felt the distance was very fair for my handicap from the traditional women's tees. A beautifully asthetic golf course. I would like to play this one again.
We loved the golf course, although it was very challenging. The greens ran fast, which we prefer. We were grouped with some members, which really helped in navigating the course. We enjoyed our roundBy the way, we had lunch before we started and the food was fresh and excellent.Loved this place and will go back
I played the Presidents Reserve today and I have to say that I was surprisingly disappointed. Not in the course as much as the service. Granted, it is early in the year and maybe they aren't fully staffed, but the staff that they did have seemed to not care about out of town guest. I showed up an hour before my tee time and specifically told the pro shop and the starter that I would like to get off early if I could. While I watched a couple of different groups go off with less than a full foursome, they did nothing to put me in with either group. When my tee time was getting near I returned to the starter and reminded him that I had no idea who I was playing with and needed him to introduce me to the group I was playing with. Needless to say he didn't and I ended up going out 20 minutes late as a twosome stuck behind a bunch of foursomes. The course itself was nice and in good condition for early in the year.
