On a Wednesday and it was closed until Friday. Once we made it in, we where able to ride and play. There workers there where very friendly. I thing my family did three ride. It was very cheap? At 1$ per person. I am glad we made it a point to come backs
Great views and trails....Carousel in season is amazing! The artsy scenes are welcoming! The shops are quaint too....Recommend
This is a great park with a play fountain and carousel to rest and watch your kids have fun on. There are great lunch and sandwich places nearby to get something to eat while to watch. Just walking here across the bridge from downtown is an experience in itself. Yet another great place to be while in Chattanooga.
If you are here with kids during hot weather, dress them in swimsuits. There is a huge fountain, complete with spewing animals and fun waterjets that is a favorite place to get wet. Also a vintage carousel with a large menagerie of carved animals, all expertly done by woodcarvers in the Chattanooga area. Lots of green space for kids to play and there are concerts and movies during the warm months. An easy walk over the Walnut Street Bridge from downtown, or easily accessed by car with lots of parking. Unless there is an evening concert or movie, my suggestion would be to limit visits to daytime hours, as there has been some trouble at night...although I think that has mostly been addressed and is not as much of a problem now.
Area is very clean, and one of the few places in Chattanooga that is FLAT!!!. Close to the Walnut Street Bridge. Several restaurants located within a few blocks.
Coolidge Park is a large, open grassy area located in downtown Chattanooga. People go there to play frisbee, walk laps around the paved walkways and play in the water fountains located up front. There are bathroom facilities and plenty of space for everyone. It's located right under the walking bridge so there's always lots of pedestrian activity everywhere and you rarely feel unsafe. The park had a bad reputation several years ago (as did most of downtown) due to a gang shooting in the park. I can say both from being a resident here for 3 years and working at the 9-1-1 center that it's very much a safe area nowadays. There are always plenty of police officers working a special detail down at the park on the weekends (at least 10) and downtown has been cleaned up vastly from in years past.
We stopped on a Sunday to try to catch a glimpse of the Delta Queen river boat (closed, but still docked). Paid to park and did not see any of the other attractions mentioned by locals, simply noticed the resurfacing and sidewalk repairs that are currently being made, making our trek more difficult. There were no other people there but can definitely see how the park might be a bigger draw during the warmer months as there is a great view and a large amount of green space that might be more appropriate during the summer.
The park itself is beautiful. Very well maintained with lots of green space and beautiful views of the river. The shops and restaurants close by are eclectic and enjoyable. This is one of my favorite places in Chattanooga. However, this is NOT the place to be at night. Consider this a warning to out of town guests. It's no longer safe - full of gang activity. Definitely visit in the daylight hours.
On a day in Chattanooga with beautiful weather, you'll find everyone in Coolidge Park, even locals. There's tons of open grassy space for games of ultimate frisbee, soccer, etc. and even fun for younger kids with a big fountain area they can play in and a beautiful carousel. You can walk right along the river and see across into beautiful downtown. The northern part of the park houses the Frasier St. shops with lovely boutiques, coffee and ice cream shops, and some unique restaurants.
Chattanooga has done an amazing job with their riverfront and Coolidge Park is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon. There is plenty of space to run around, and the water fountains and carousel for the kids. Along the river there are many benches and picnic tables, so you can stop and enjoy the view. I love how they've mixed art installations and sculpture into different areas of the park. Parking is free on Sunday.
Such a great use of green space! There is always room to play and people are friendly! Always clean and safe. Best part of Chattanooga and the North Shore area for sure!
The park has a great fountain and benches to relax, but the main attraction is the working Carousel. The town has done a great job of renovating and fixing it up.
Great place to relax and enjoy the scenery. Walk the bridge to get from downtown. The carousel is a must!
It is it is scenic ,and peaceful most of the time. A chance to get some fresh air, run, walk , play. They have picnic tables and grilles, so you can bring things with you to cook out. My husband I did that one 4th of July.it was great. They had fireworks shot from the river . It was great. The Carousel is great for all ages. Even senior citizens. Great price. $1.00. The fountain is great in the summer for cooling off. Love it. Stores and restaurants near by up on Frazier Ave.
Visited Coolidge Park to take my daughter to the Carousel! Both were amazing. We highly enjoyed ourselves! The carousel was only $1 per ride and children under 2 ride free with the purchase of an adult ticket. Will definitely return!
