Great concert venue. Friendly staff. Had a blast watching Houndmouth. Would recommend highly. Vintage feel and look. Everybody seat is close to the stage.
We went to a holiday concert at this venue...it is incredible on the interior...if you get a chance to do anything or see anything there, please do so...you won't be dissappointed.
What a great piece of history. I have been going to the Bijou since I was a kid. It was even closed for a long time before they reopened it! It is very small but that just adds to the greatness! You feel like you are apart of the performance! There is a parking lot right next to the theater. It is close to restaurants and is just a beautiful site.
The Bijou Theater is about half the size of the Tennessee Theater, but just as nice of a venue. The sound is great. We saw really enjoy seeing the WDVX Bluegrass shows at the Bijou.
This theater is in a great area - safe and parking is near. I love the vintage feel of this theater; and the seats closer to the front are better even though it is a smaller venue.
Man this old guy still has it! He is still the "white Hendrix" and honestly Jimi would be honored to let him have the title! Must see for all of you "bucket listers"!!!
Probably the best concert hall for sound in town. Artists remark on how great the acoustics are. It's also one of the most intimate place to see a show in K-Town. Given my druthers, this would be my first choice to see a band or a performer. I look for excuses to see concerts at the Bijou. I'm glad they saved it. It's been around a long, long time.
This venue might be old, but the architecture is absolutely beautiful! Not to mention it's essentially impossible to get a bad seat. I definitely recommend it for a good show.
Knoxville is blessed to have the Bijou as little sister to the Tennessee Theater a block north. Both are beautifully restored old theaters that make any event seem special. I was attending the Wild and Scenic film festival most recently, but have attended other shows and even a wedding here.
We went to hear a reading by David Sedaris. We had seats up in the balcony and could see and hear just fine. Note there are steep stairs to the balcony. I am not sure if there is an elevator for disabled persons. I liked seeing the inside of the theater but thought the lobby area needed something on the walls. I was surprised that they seated people who arrived as much as 30 minutes late. That meant having a flashlight shown on you as you had to stand to let in the late comers. Very distracting when a reading is going on. True there was no intermission to seat people, but 30 minutes of a constant stream of latecomers was off-putting. Guess this is more directed at the people who came late and didn't care that it bothered others.
The place is great for music. Acoustics were better than anticipated. Really enjoyed the two bands that were playing. Nice intimate space.
The Bijou is a great venue. Historical place with great sound. I would give 5 stars if they could pull in more concerts, but maybe it is because Knoxville is not such a big draw as larger cities.
This is one of the places that really brings back nostalgia to it's fullest. I am reminded of school field trips for plays at this location as a child. It is picturesque and intimate.
We came to see Clutch. Two adults three teenagers. It was the first concert for one of the kids. We were told we could sit in the balcony because there was no reserved seating. After watching the first two bands they told us there was reserved seating and they has just shown up. After we were forced to sit in the second floor seating away from the band, we informed the security that the people that had taken our seats were smoking and all but having sex in the balcony to which we were met with a shoulder shrug. Obviously these people do not care about the band or their fans.
Have dinner next door before the show! Seating was excellent, not a bad seat in the place! The sound was spot on and I will definitely be looking for more shows here!! Great venue!
