This is a lovely little jewell in the midst of a small town in a beautiful valley. My husband and I enjoyed our visit there and were very impressed.
I was going to give this place a 2 or 2 1/2 rating. .but decided on the 3 because of the price.. $2. This museum has a lot of exhibits, but mostly just older stuff about anything (and almost everything). What the museum needs is a diorama of the area since incorporation to the 1950s.. a 100 year review. You probably didn't know that Alamosa is Colorado's oldest incorporated town.. though there are other places (like Bent's Fort) that are older. The area is rich in agriculture history, but now has turned to tourism (Great Sand Dunes), education (Adam's State Univ.) and being a distribution center / supply town for nearby smaller towns. Much of this is shown in the museum and good for students to learn. I don't know the curator or the lady working there the day I went by.. but she is a genius on (world) history and understanding how the real world works. I could have spent all day chatting with her. For the price it's worth it. Take a break and stroll around the place if you can spare the time.
