Take the wonderful drive and stop at the different viewpoints to see spectacular scenery. Guides on hand to explain and share their knowledge. Great picnic spots. Need at least 3 hours to explore here.

Stop there before you see the canyon drive. Very informative displays and video. Staff was helpful but it's a pretty simple park to figure out. One thing that would extend the visit is hiking but I didn't do any so can't recommend.

great film.. great crew/staff.. lots of information.. and really organized. Have more ranger guides events per day than any other one I have been to... and these are well informed rangers!

Ranger programs available at various times throughout the day in summer.I loved the relative lack of visitors at this national park, as most are quite busy and noisy during the peak summer months.

Rangers helpful. Views great. Watch the film if you have time. The restrooms are not so clean and no water for washing hands.

This visitor center is small but has everything you need to remember your trip - shirts, books, postcards as well as displays on the history of the canyon and the first explorers. There's also a short film you can watch that is very informative. The Rangers are a great resource if you need help planning a trip so be sure to ask questions. Toilets are nearby.

The Visitor Center is your first stop to the Canyon. It has nice restrooms and a gift shop. You definitely want to walk out the back to the trail down a few steps to see one of the amazing views of this canyon.

My husband & I are native "Coloradoans". We had never been to the Black Canyon. Went from one end to the other. The people at the visitor's center were very helpful.

Camped here two nights, came in late or early depending on your point of view. 4 adults and 6 kids ages 2-8. Our arrival was met by some confusion due to the fact is was in the early AM and the campsites all seemed to be taken, but in reality they were not. The rangers put up signs for reserved sites severals days prior, even weeks prior. Upon careful inspection by our sleepy eyes we saw they were not to be occupied until the weekend and it was mid week. Not very crowded even though it was mid June, not one of the more popular National parks, but well worth the visit. There are pit toilets and a drinking water faucet in the campground. Water is trucked in, so no sinks for washing or cleaning up. We are used to camping without water being available, so this was not a problem. Bear boxes are available. We stored our food in plastic containers and in the car. Mostly we picnicked around the park, and not at our camp site due to our food being in the car when we were out hiking. The sites themselves are spacious, we got two six person tents on the site. each site has trees and shrubs surrounding it with a picnic table and fire ring. Some of the sites were grassy too. I don't remember the trails but some of our group went on a ranger lead hike about the geology in the park, that started at the visitor center. The movie at the visitor center was super informative about the area and it's founder. Our kids did participate in the Jr. Rangers program and got sworn as Jr. Rangers by one of the park rangers. We love this program due to the fact that it encourages the kids to get to know about the parks plants and animals. Learning and competing to see who could earn the badges the fastest. We had a blast and I would recommend this park to those wanting to avoid the crowds of some of the other National Parks.

There is a nice small theatre at the visitor center and my husband & I really enjoyed watching a short movie(about 20 minutes) introducing the history of the area, great movie for all ages. Also, there is an outlook behind the visitor center with spectacular view, highly recommended to visit. Rangers were very helpful, and we received great advice for scenic drives and hiking.

I don't remember if they had snacks for sale but there was a restroom available. It had useful information about the canyon compared to other great canyons.

This visitor center is pretty typical of most of the national park visitor centers. Exception is the amazing view. It's pretty close to the entrance and has all of the necessary facilities such as restrooms, gift shop, various displays telling you the history and formations of the canyon, and a nice little theatre. I found the staff helpful and friendly. Take the short hike from the visitor center to the end of the trail and you really get an incredible view of the canyon.

Good movie of area. Very nice rangers and retail staff. Good stuff to buy. The oak flats hike is a bit challenging but nice introduction to area. You take part of it if you hike down to he river.

This wonderfully-designed center is fairly near the entrance to the park. Located directly on the south rim, it is built of logs, and houses restroom facilities, a small gift shop, visual displays, and an educational video. The park guides were extremely helpful as well.Be sure to take the short walkway down to the overlook. The canyon floor is about 1800' directly below the sheer cliff on which you will stand! It will take a while for your heart to slow down afterwards. Great opportunity for photographs and also for learning how the canyon was formed. Don't miss the gnarled tree in a cleft to the right of the overlook.
