We like this casino because it is clean, the staff are friendly, and the machines are up to date!! The buffet is GREAT, I love that they include a whole lobster! The salads are very tasty, and the desserts are better than the buffets at other casinos in Blackhawk! This is our "go-to" casino in Blackhawk!!
I will give it five stars once they have rooms available. Great place to gamble. The staff is very friendly! Lots of great slot machines and table games. The buffet has a great variety of food.
Rude employee ruined the night. Instead of answering a question they'll just threaten to have you thrown out. This kind of treatment come from the too down. It is a culture that happens in these casinos, its a reason the names change so often here. The main problem is employing the same jilted rude TSA types just perpetuates the problem... Which is players aren't treated or thought of as clients or customers but as "marks". Don't have your experience ruined by rude poorly led and poorly trained staff, spend your entertainment money where it is appreciated, and you're not in peril of being drug out or even arrested on a lie conjured up by an angry employee. P.S: Keep a recording app be it audio or video on your phone. They are recording you always. Protect yourselves...I did and am sure it was my ace in the hole.
The Monarch has a great buffet. All it needs is a hotel, which is being built now. Can't wait to see what that will look like.
their vending machines just simply steal money and their personal do nothing about even do not check surveillance video. just put the blame on visitor. But I am not the cheater, they are
The buffet is over priced, although the quality was good. You get either a whole lobster or a lobster tail, crab legs, shrimp, and prime rib. The selection is very limited with only a few things to choose from. It was quality over quantity. However, it's really too pricey. The service was horrible. They ran out of iced tea, and they said the manager was going downstairs for more. Never came back to the table, never offered water or anything else to drink. Had to ask three times for drinks to begin with. Had to ask twice for crackers for the seafood. Confusion with the waitstaff and didn't leave a tip. Slots were too tight and food sub par so we don't anticipate returning.
We were told the Brunch was awesome but not so much. Wanted the cooked to order Eggs Benedict and the cook told us not today, we are out of butter so we can't make the sauce. REALLY? No butter! Thought it was a joke but not so. The rest of the buffet was ok. Very disappointed and no more Brunch at Monarch for us. There are plenty of other casinos to have brunch at and hopefully they will have butter. Ridiculous!
I am not sure if they are trying to get their customers to stay away or not. I don't think that they understand that in order to get people to keep coming back, they need to let people win! Except for the people gathered around the craps tables, nobody was excited about winning any money. All of the casinos in Blackhawk,CO are tight and I would expect for them to go out of business if this keeps up! Loosen up the machines and people may start coming back to your casino.
Can't review anything about the actual casino and gambling but was not disappointed with the buffet. Not as much to offer as the huge buffets I'm use to that are in Biloxi MS in the larger casinos but this is pretty great. Great variety of crab legs and had lobster that came with the buffet 1 per person. Price was very great at 22.99 a person. Had a cold and warm seafood bar and other food also. Friendly wait staff. My experience was over all pretty awesome. Wish they used some old bay seasoning is the only thing I would change. That's more because I was raised on the Gulf Coast and seasoned seafood is the best ever! Can't wait to go back and try this little gem we found in CO
We only gamble a few times a year and usually go to the place across the street. This buffet far outshines any I have been to recently. They have a variety of table games to play and even more slots. We had good luck so that always helps the experience!! The service was great from the valet to the buffet, from customer service to the floor and the dealers. I even commented that this place could cause me to gamble more often
The best thing about this place is the buffet which is great with really lovely decor. The casino - Eh! The service isn't great, I had to track down a manager to find out where the servers were so I could get a bottle of water after gambling there for over an hour. They had ?x play on slots and poker machines which I signed up for and the next day I asked one of the casino folks to check how many points I had and the multiplier hadn't been added to my account for some reason so they sent me to the casino host. I still don't know if the points were added. The casino is being remodeled and expanded, let's hope they hire some folks with good customer service skills. Also didn't win a thing here, the slots are pretty tight and one machine broke down on me and I had to wave at the slot techs to get their attention after waiting for quite a while with the service light on. They seem more interested in visiting with each other than helping the customers. I won't gamble here for a while.
Was very excited to visit a new casino in Blackhawk over the weekend, the only thing good I have to say is the food tasted good at the buffet. Got very poor service at the buffet and also in the casino. The machine that I was playing kept going offline and I watched 5 employees walk by me and not a single one offered to help. Will not go back to this casino ever.
We love this casino. Best odds in black hawk and the buffet is very good, especially on the weekends when they have lobster tails with your meal.
Hawking desperately as you walk buy the craps tables, telling my friend and I that you WILL make money....True scams and cons....Nothing like this at any of the other casinos. When mentioned to the casino room manager, he was so rude, and arrogant, that I will never go back, and encourage everyone to try a classier casino....which is easy.. Yes Black Hawk has great casinos....Ameristar being a shining example......Management needs to change here. You would think that after spending in excess of a few hundred dollars, resolving a simple complaint with a manager would be easy, as I consider my self a good customer. I was basically told that Hawing is encouraged, and taking my money was his pleasure...I was shocked to be treated so poorly. Oh and the food......Forget the lobster and crab legs. If you know anything about sea food, fresh is vitally important....I cant believe they can get away with the food served. Bullish attempts by management to get you on the tables is tacky. No wonder the place was empty......
They are doing a lot of up grading at this hotel! I checked with the host to see if they did anything special for birthdays husband turned 55! The host was this tiny lady, she was so sweet. She told us of the special half off buffet for 50 and over Monday & Tuesday. SCORE!! And she actually asked if we had been to the old buffet and took us up to the new buffet to look around and told us of the may changes there. Needless to say we ate... Maine lobster and snow crab hot or cold they had both. The food was I think the best buffet we have ever had in Blackhawk! I would highly recommend this buffet. 22.00 for 2 people yes total. Mon or Tuesday, 50 plus days. WE played penny slots here and had a real nice time. We won a little and lost a little but we still had fun. The future sounds good for Riviera they will eventually have a hotel with a pool. I wouln't mind staying here. We have always had fun here. And nice staff!! Thank You to a lovely host I wish I knew here name she was great and so happy and positive about her place of employment... nice to see!
