This stables sucks. Don't ever go here. Me and my spouse went for the sunset horse back riding and the horses wouldn't even move. There was also another family who rode with us. The horses were very stubborn, they stopped for every 2 minutes to either eat grass or they would move backwards (in the opposite direction) we were supposed to go. We all came back (did not finish the ride) after we struggled through for about an hour just to make the horses move half a mile. The lady in-charge said she would refund our money but that never happened. When we called back the stables for refund they were asking all stupid details/questions and didn't even care to refund the money back.Do NOT ever go to this stables. This place sucks. The horses here are not at all trained and you would just be wasting your time by going to this place.
My daughter was a little uneasy at first when we took off and her horse got out of line. The guide reassured her & told her what to do.
I had horses years ago as did my husband. It has been about 30 years since I have ridden and 40 for him. I really love horses and he chose to go on this ride because I went with him on ATVs and helicopter ride. We actually planned to start back to Texas today but chose to stay and ride. Our guide was Maggie and I found her to be very pleasant. She is really a horse person and knows the personalities and quirks of each horse. I felt very comfortable following her lead. Horses were gentle and dependable. Thanks for the ride I have been wanting for a long time!
We took my son for his very first horseback riding experience and were glad we chose this place for the occasion. My husband and I both have some experience riding and a great love of horses. The horses here are well behaved and safe for all ages. I'm happy to say that after this gorgeous scenic horseback ride our son had so much fun that on our way out he kept saying be was going to miss raven the horse be rode. Needless to say, the guides are great with kids and we all enjoyed our 2 hour ride without worrying about our son being afraid. It's our first time visiting Colorado but we will definitely be back and this place will be our first thing to do on our agenda. Love it!
We enjoyed our 2 hour ride in conjunction with our rafting trip with Echo Canyon. It doesn't look like much, so be prepared. Our guide was a sweet girl and she answered questions when asked, but otherwise just kept an eye on us as our horses obediently followed her lead. Our 7 year old son got to ride his own horse and many locations won't allow that age to venture on the trail. He handled it well with a few cues from our guide. Our 13 year old daughter loved the experience, as well.
Knowledgeable staff, nice views, easy trails. Easy going, kicked back business. Nothing disliked at all.
wow, lots of fun and beautiful country for a horseback ride. Only took the 1 hour ride, but enjoyed it very much.
We arrived for an 11:00 ride which we had scheduled the day before. There was no record in their books of the reservation. Manager said it was no problem and that we could still ride, but we would have to wait for the horses to come back from the 9:00 ride. So, we waited until 11:30 and then could not wait any longer because we had scheduled other activities back to back. Manager refunded our money with no problem. We were disappointed we didn't get to ride.
I have 5 young children. The staff were all accommodating and friendly. The horses were by far the most well behaved I have ever seen ;) TWO THUMBS UP
What a joke. They basically tell military to kiss off (with a proud claim that they offer NO military discount). The person working there was dressed like a prostitute and so were her friends who were laying around the dingy office while waiting for customers. The hooker-type worker was going to be the person who took us out on the ride too. Her friends appeared to be going as well. We found a professional place to go for horseback riding. It was in Cotopaxi. Their prices are drastically better and the folks running the place are much more professional. They also have some respect for the military, police, fire, other first responders and for seniors! The place we found also has rock climbing, ATV adventures and some other stuff. Cotopaxi is about 20-25 mins from Canon City. Stay away from Fort Royal Stables. They don't deserve the business.
They were all ready for us and the horses they chose for each family member worked perfectly. It was hot, even in the morning, so bring some water. Kaylen was our guide and she did not tell us anything, but she kept a close eye on us all and kept the ride moving.
Courtney was a great tour guide! We had an amazing ride even with Cheyanne being a stubborn horse! She had plenty of information to keep us entertained and we strongly recommend that if you can make it out to Fort Royal Stables please request Courtney as your guide! She wont disappoint!
