Traveling from Minnesota for the past 5 years we have always skied at Copper. Why?Free parking and shuttle to the mountain was easy......price to ski was very family friendly (but it has gone up a lot in 5 years)......the mountain was great the green and blue runs in the same area is great for my family. I love it hope to return next year.
This mountain did not disappoint. We headed to the Rockies for their snow and to just getaway & ski without a glitzy, crowded experience. We found what we were looking for and felt so welcomed by truly friendly staff (really felt they enjoyed working there) and some wonderful dining. Try the elk at CB Grille. Yum, perfect.
I inherited my love of Copper from my SO, who worked there for a season many, many years ago. We only started making regular trips in the last couple years, and I only started skiing (or trying to) in the last two years. I took ski lessons both last year and this, with mixed satisfaction. They were great lessons when the abilities of the class matched, and very frustrating (for everyone in the class) when they didn't. I greatly appreciated when the instructor(s) would take the time to separate out the slowest or fastest learners and move them to groups that better matched their abilities. I say this to advise people who take classes to be assertive about asking to be regrouped if you feel you are on either end of the class level, otherwise you are wasting your money.Food at the resort is expensive, but I didn't find it to be awful in taste. We mostly packed lunches to defray the cost during the day.We stayed in a condo on the grounds (in Bridge End), which had very basic accommodations. No luxury at the place we stayed at all, though it was larger than we expected, and met our basic needs. Wi-Fi was horrible. Free, but so slow I just didn't use it.What I do love about Copper though, is the atmosphere. The employees I encountered were warm and friendly. They do a great job providing great service, and that contributes greatly to my vacation experience. Copper is also very family friendly, with an awesome ski/ride school for the kiddos (I was around this a lot, since I am such a basic skier, and spent all my time in West Village). We went tubing one evening, and had a blast. We will definitely make this a must-do event for future trips.Sorry, I can't actually comment on the skiing, since I am such a beginner, but other reviews cover that very well,
First time at copper today. Reasonably price discounted online lift tickets. Reasonably price food and lots of variety. Lots of skiing for all levels including some grat half pipes.
I just spent the past two days skiing Copper, and had a great time. This is a medium sized mountain with plenty of runs for every type of skier. It's laid out well with easier runs on one side migrating to more difficult runs across the mountain. The good: - Parking is a piece of cake with shuttles running frequently from the free lots. - Rental gear on the mountain was a bit pricier than in town (to be expected), but the process was fast and efficient; the gear was in good shape. - Lift lines weren't too bad (I was there on a Monday/Tuesday) for the start of spring break season. Never waited longer than 5 minutes. The bad: - Had one issue with a rude lift agent on one of the runs; had a little girl ahead of me who was sliding over right before getting on, and I let her go ahead bumping me back to the next chair. The agent without warning pushed me from behind which made me lose my balance and almost wipe out...not cool. - Food was below average both days; overcooked burgers and bacon on the first day, and stale buns on the sliders the second...it's mountain food, and was reasonable for on the mountain, but it really wasn't the best. Recommendations- For beginner/intermediates like me, recommend you start your day in the Center Village and take the American Flyer line up to the top...ski down Coppertone/Upper Sluice to the Rendevous lift. Take that to the top of the mountain for spectacular views. Don't take the Wheeler Creek run off Rendevous as it's listed green, but is more of a blue with moguls. Instead, take Union Park to Sluice to Coppertone and Carefree. Be careful with Carefree as the last part is more of a light blue, which could be tough for beginners; there's an easier path to the left for you. - The greens at Copper were a bit more challenging in the middle of the mountain versus a Keystone or Breck, but pretty manageable for decent beginners (i.e. not your first time out). For first timers, recommend you stay in the West Village where there are plenty of easier green runs. - For starting intermediates, recommend you start with Windsong at the top of the Timberline Express line. It's a good first blue run that's really wide, and not too steep. Copperfield is also pretty reasonable, and I heard that American Flyer was decent as well, but we ran out of time. Be sure to check the groomer listings at the top of the mountain as some runs that we expected to be groomed weren't (The Moz).- There's pretty reasonable lodging in Frisco up the road, and the town has good options for dining as well. Peppino's was excellent.Overall, really liked Copper mountain. It was laid back with plenty of options for everyone, and reasonable as well (with discounts). I've skied A-Basin, Keystone, Breck, and Steamboat as well, and Copper would be my third favorite after Breck and Steamboat. I'll definitely be back.
This was my first time to a ski resort and it was well organized. I would suggest buying bundled packages if you are there for a few days. Almost everything has a coupon or discount if you look before you go in brochures or through online booking.
Copper has a wide variety of trails and (apart from Saturday's) the lifts do not have long lines. Unfortunately, my partner twisted her knee but the Green Slopes made it possible to continue skiing gently. But these were great fun and by no means just Bunny Slopes. Skiing from the top of Rendezvous lift to the base area was a long long and interesting Grwen trail. Highly recommended. It was our second stay at copper nd we shall certainly return.
Copper has the local feel. It has tons of areas for all levels. Their ski & ride school is among the best in Colorado. Some of the steepest terrain is serviced by lifts or T bars. Great trees. The only downside may be the lack of restaurants,
We really like to ski at Copper. Good mountain. It was a perfect spring day and the crowds were a bit bigger than usual but the mountain handles it well.
Hi CuteBrat,First of all, thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. I'm so sorry to hear you've had a less than exceptional experience here at Copper.I'm more than happy to pass your comments along to our Food & Beverage team so they are aware of the issue. We have 23 different lifts to choose from here at Copper, I'm so sorry you must have hit us on a busy weekend! As for parking, it is true that our free parking lot is a bit further away than the paid parking lots. However, we do have free shuttles that run all day long and bring you to every part of the resort from the free parking lot - keep that in mind for next time!If you have any other concerns, feel free to send us an email at socialmedia@coppercolorado.com.
Stopped in for a quick run and went tubing instead. Parking fills up quick so arrive early, the mountain was amazing, 40 degrees, sun ablazing, staff were awesome. Tubing runs one hour sessions, we got 6 runs in, they 4 lanes, slow to fast, can go down the hill in groups of five. Awesome adventure!!!!!!
Just finished a weekend trip out to Copper. Hadn't been in about 10 years, but it was great to be back. Our group of 7 consisted of adults that range in run comfort level from mid-range blues to expert only double blacks. Copper is a great fit for us because there's something for everyone, and we can generally stick together on the same lift with various options for easier or more difficult ways down to the bottom. We especially love the back bowls - can't beat those views.
First time skiing here. Came with my teen daughter. Stuck to green and blue runs so can't comment on the others but truly enjoyed the mountain. We packed lunches and so can't comment on the food options. Is not as large as some other villages at other ski areas but was family-friendly. Had staff in general areas to answer questions. Staff were friendly at the check-in/ticket counters and on ski lifts. Would go back.
Great family friendly resort! Brought a first time adult skier who had a great all day lesson! There is something for every level of skier! Stayed at the mill club, perfect location! We will be back!
Spent 3 nights at Copper Mountain Ski Resort and had a great time. We stayed in the Passage Point neighborhood in the Center Village. The center village is very convenient to the shops, dining and two of the ski lifts. We had a one bedroom unit. It was very nice. King bed in the bedroom and full size bunk beds. Unit had a full kitchen, fireplace and 2 full bathrooms. We purchased the lift tickets with the secret pass and since there was a special event going on it was great to get on the lifts quickly. Loved the fact that Passage Point had a parking garage underneath the building so we never had to clean our car off before leaving. You could probably find cheaper places to stay, but we thought the convenience of staying right at the ski resort was well worth it!
