It was covered in snow when I went the first time but still worth the trip. Covered in snow or clear and sunny, it's worth checking out.
Red Rocks is a beautiful area off US 24 near Manitou Springs. Lots of parking space at the base with toilet facilities there too. There are two areas where you can walk your dogs. It's a great place for picnics and you'll see rock climbers on the walls to your left as you hike up. There's a connecting trail at the top that goes to the Section 16 trail system if you're up for a little more strenuous hike. The trails at Red Rocks are very moderate and well-marked. A great family place.
We went to this place just as a couple of tourists and had a great time just walking in and around the big red boulders/ rocks. The amphitheatre is something to look at, really unique and attractive.
Easy to medium hike stroll. Beautiful scenery. Easy to get to. Just down the road from Old Colorado City. Hi there a couple times with our son.
This is my go-to place when I want to get out in nature but don't want to be gone all day. Beautiful views and there are lots of trails to explore. On nice days, parking can be a little tough as it has become more and more popular.
Beautiful area to run, hike, bike, or climb. Lots of different paths for variety, and wonderful views.
Less traveled than Garden of the Gods. Good trails to walk. A bit of rock climbing we hadn't expected. Trails damaged by weather. Friendly hikers everywhere and lots of dog walkers.
We have hiked Red Rock Canyon several times and will continue to go back. The place is beautiful and there are lots of trails to explore.
Other than being little chilly was great. Got to walk the area and let my grandchildren enjoy the day. Absolutely breath taking.
great outdoor views, the place is peaceful and it is a must see. It is all close to one another (Garden of Gods, Pikes Peak).
What a wonderful experience to see all the headliners that performed here and to witness the natural wonder of acoustics meeting the canyon.
Red Rock Canyon has free parking, free hike, picnic table, and is easy to get to from I 25.The land was once used for mining and was converted into almost 800 acres of open space.I have visited Colorado Springs, CO 05/2008, and 06/2013. Colorado Springs has a diverse range of topography, Garden of the Gods- high desert with plants and birds, Seven Falls-woods, birds, etc. Red Rock Canyon, although made through mining is different with the Canyon views, and rugged terrain, it really is great. I will visit Colorado Springs again in the future, I will include Red Rock Canyon..**bring water, snack, back pack, and CAMERA...**The trip was with my sister....no young children
We hiked about 3 miles in a loop that took us into a late 1800's quarry where huge blocks were cut for buildings all over the US. This is truly a gem. Basically an extension of the Garden of the Gods as the monolith natural rock formations crash into the Front Range and Section 16. You could hike or bike over 30 miles and take in breathtaking views all along the trails.
thoroughly enjoyable experience. beautiful sites and chances to see wildlife. recommend for anyone visiting the area.
Red Rock Canyon is a true wonder of nature. The gorgeous colors and places to pull over and make photos is great. Drive through and enjoy!
