Stop and give a salute and say a prayer at this memorial to those who served in Vietnam from the Western Slope of the Colorado Rockies, and elsewhere, too. Locally commissioned remembrance of their sacrifice and service, featuring life size realistically posed statuary and a real Huey helicopter in flight position. Well worth your taking the time to pause and reflect and to say a prayer .... just give thanks for those who served and most especially those who gave the last full measure of devotion. Semper Fi!

The memorial is very nicely done, they have the helicopter with a recording that plays. Easy to get to.

This is a very interesting Memorial to our Vets from the Vietnam War. It has a very solemn mood to it and a beautiful tribute.

This is a local war memorial that is very well done. It has the black panels of the one in Washington and a real Huey helicopter in the air above it.

My husband lost a brother in Viet Nam, so this was especially close to his heart. Very moving display and statues

Found this by accident when we visited Fruita Colorado. It was located next to our hotel and we walked there. It is good to be reminded of the sacrifice that our soldiers made in servicing in Vietnam.

Many names fro local area are on bricks and plaques. Just be quiet and remember those who fought for you.

There's always time to honor our Military past or present - take an our trip to Collbran, Colorado to see the Women's Military Memorial.

The location is not the best, but the theme and the monument itself is very well done. I was impressed.

Right off of I-70 in Fruita, CO, this is a beautiful memorial. The helicopter is amazing and the location is situated right across from a Colorado Visitor center, where the people were very friendly.

The focus of the Western Slope Vietnam War Memorial is to honor those who served, in and out of country, and especially those who were killed, disabled, and missing or taken prisoner. The first thing you will see is an actual UH-1H helicopter surrounded by flags. The "Huey" is the symbol of the Vietnam Era. As visitors approach the "Huey" helicopter exhibit, they are greeted with authentic Bell UH-1 helicopter sounds and “Paint it Black” by the Rolling Stones. A female voice welcomes visitors and provides information about the memorial. (The sound is inactive at night since it is very close to a hotel.) There is also a full size bronze "Welcome Home" statue that recognizes that for many vets the arms of the family was the best welcome ever. http://www.arnoldtelluridestudio.com/welcome-home.html is a good link to see the story behind the art and the artist's story. Black granite walls are engraved with the names of Western Slope Vietnam veterans who served, not just those who died and another area lists those who died. Located at the Colorado Visitor Center and within walking distance of many hotels and restaurants in Fruita.
