Lack of upkeep on this "botanical gardens' . When it first opened it was nice to have even this little place, but it's gone downhill fast. A nice lilly pad pond. The butterfly pavillion is so-so

Took my mom here. It is pretty small. Doesn't cost a lot to go in. Some pretty plants but not as nice as the Denver Botanic gardens. If you want to just do something easy or take visitors it is a good place to go. Nice park surrounds it as well.

Overall it was disappointing as many of the plants they had I can go see for free out on the prairie. It was small and not what they make it sound. Do not plan your day around visiting here as you can be done here in less than an hour and see everything they have. For the price paid next time I will find something else to do.

We enjoyed the gardens very much even though it was hot July. Well laid out, interesting and even have a small indoor butterfly gardens.

We have tried twice to take groups of children to the Botanical Gardens. The first time one of the older male volunteers yelled at our group of three to five year olds for playing on the grass. To make it worst the person in charge fired the poor man right in front of us. We were told they would comp our next visit but we waited three years before we returned. This Spring we returned but found it less organized than before. They even charged us for a tour guide but they were very under staffed and it turned into a self tour. You would think they would cater to school groups to fill in for the slow season and get the word out. We will probably won't return. We have given them a chance.

If you are expecting an expansive meandering full day event, you may be disappointed. The native plants and butterfly house are nice activities. Situated on a biking hiking trail along the Colorado River you can easily wrap up an afternoon or day exploring. Close by is Edgewater Brewery and all the activities of Grand Junction an easy walk.Small parking lot but ample room. Take the time to explore and support the effort.

The gardens are along the paved bike path along the Colrado River. While biking we stumbled upon this lovely place and enjoyed an hour of touring their orchid house, butterfly room, sculpture garden, children's play land, and historical /native plant area that even has an old shepherder's wagon. Great place to bring kids or adults . If you already belong to an arboretum or other historical society, you may well get in for free, though we felt a donation was well worth our experience.

A girlfriend and I showed up on a Tuesday morning. I heard it was free on Tuesdays. This must be old information as we were charged $5 per person. I am happy to pay it to support this place. They have a butterfly area. Where they check that you have no hitchhikers before you leave. Overall a beautiful space. Worth your time to visit while in the area. Could be done in less than a hour or as long as you want. I am not 100% sure if the building across the street is part of it or not. It is a castle looking building that has a bunch of fun things around it's gardens. Glad we found this and made time to visit. Keep up the good work.

The Botanical Gardens are relatively small - There is a small indoor portion with lots of more exotic plans (many of which were just potted and on a table) and a stream. Upon exiting this area, there is a short, paved walking path with plants on the side, followed by a lily pond and a more desert-scape area (not paved) with historical information of the region. The butterfly garden is small but quite nice. We saw several butterflies and very pretty plants in this area. The highlight, however, was the cat that lives on-site (Smokey). Incredibly friendly and cute!Unless you're very interested in examining all of the plants, this will not take you a long time to get through.

we were able to see 4 butterflies come out of their cocoons while we were there. It was great for our 5 year old. They have some beautiful plants, decently priced souvenirs, a castle for little ones to go in, a cute small suit of armor, history of the area. We went in June and everything was blooming.

Several varied outdoor garden and landscaping areas. Very unique and took many photos. Would return again.

It was a bit cold so far this year, but I really enjoy this attraction and try to get by here a few times a year to explore and see the butterflies

Would not go back or bring friends here while visiting area there are other places to see better in the area.

A great way to spend an hour or two! There are very unique garden areas outside with a lot of photo opportunities. The conservatory inside isn't very large and butterflies were not on site during our visit.

This is a remarkable place. It joins the River Trail; a great place for bicycling or walking - I have seen deer, raccoons, badgers, beavers, grey herons, horned owls, red-tail hawks, a red fox, all sorts of smaller birds, rabbits, and my favorite: the red-winged black bird here. The Botanical Gardens is just that: exotic tropical flora and many varieties of flowers. There is also a Butterfly House with a huge variety of butterflies. Ms. Harris and a non-profit organization, took many years to collect and save the money to build this dream place. It took a great deal of effort just to acquire the land. Much of the upper part of the building is made of highly insulative but transluscent Lexon. The thick greenhouse glass can not be broken by hitting it on the surfaces with a sledge hammer - it can only be broken on the edges. This glass is almost a quarter inch thick and very heavy: these glass panels were ordered from Texas. There is a large outdoor fantasy area especially for children. Anyway, there is much more to this place than I am telling you. It is very much worth the visit.
