We stopped here for a picnic and then came back for the car show that was in the area. Clean, pretty park. Easy to find.
We always stop at this park, so our children can play, before driving on to Lake City. It is across the street from Gunnison's Pioneer Museum, also worth a visit.
Stopped here to let grandkids play during trip. Several fun slides and swings, with separate section for younger children. Clean and well maintained!
Slides galore! With lots of stairs to wear them out too! ;) It's funny to watch all the kids see this park for the first time! They are so very excited! We started bringing our daughter here 3 yrs ago at age 2. She calls it her "favorite park ever!"
If you're ever in Gunnison, CO ...stop by the city park. It's a beautiful spot to sit on the grass and breathe in the fresh mountain air, have a picnic ...and play.
What a gem of a park. There were fountains and it was very serene. There are great shaded areas for a picnic and the children's play area was enormous. There is a Sonic and McDonalds close and it is right across the street from the Visitors Center. The Pioneer Museum is next door. We didn't bring a lunch so drove downtown and had a wonderful lunch at Mario's Pizza. They have wonderful salads and I had a 4 cheese ravioli on a bed of spaghetti. Great food and a great park.
Huge play area with several different structures for all ages and abilities, swings, teter toter, rock climbing and tons of open space with grass. Pavilions and shade also available with lots of picnic tables. Great park.
My son loved the rock climbing rock and the big slide. We also played some mini-golf across the street.
Right off of Highway 50 on the main road through town. Trees for shade. Play area, college campus nearby. The climate in Gunnison is usually very pleasant in the summer and it makes a great place for a family picnic meal as well as provides a place for children to play.
I assume "Gunnison City Park" refers to American Legion Memorial Park and Jorgensen Park that straddle U.S. 50 on the east side of town. This is a good place to stop on the long east-west haul across this part of Colorado, and the folks at the adjacent information center have helpful information on the attractions of this part of the state.
After going to the Gunnison Pioneer Musuem we took the kids here for a picnic and to play. It is so nice and clean and they have a wonderful park for the kids to play on including a climbing wall. They had so much fun here we had to pull them away.
My two toddlers had a wonderful time at this park. We brought a picnic from Sonic, had a nice table in the shade. There are impressive wooden sculptures all around, and the playground equipment is fantastic! Great community atmosphere, people sitting under trees playing music, dogs all around (leashed, of course) and Sunday morning church service in the pavilion. Clean and lovely.
Gunnison City park is right along Hwy 50 in Gunnison CO. There is a newer slide feature that has the biggest slide we've seen to date - my son couldn't wait to get on it. There is a smaller section just for little kids as well. The park has a huge bouldering rock, basketball courts, picnic area, and outdoor woodcarving sculpture park and free public restrooms. There is a vistor center with with brochures and people who can direct you to camping, public attractions, and anywhere you might want to go in the area. We stop by every time we pass through and it's always busy with locals and tourists. There is also a McD's and a Sonic in the area. It's a great place to take a break if you are on vacation.
