My husband went out to Elkhorn Adventure Tours last weekend. They picked him up, provided riding gear, new 800cc snowmobiles, and a tour guide to ride the mountain all to them selves. We would recommend and will recommend them to everyone we know.

I have never done a trip like this before so I wasn't sure what to expect, but these guys were awesome! They picked us up at the airport, brought us to our lodging, they supplied all the gear and top notch sleds. Our guide was John and he took us out, showed us the scenery, learned some new tricks and rode through some deep powder. You will not be disappointed...can't wait to go back!

We booked our 3 hour tour with Jason with one days notice. He was very accommodating and ended up being our tour guide. We were lucky to be the only 2 people for the tour (the other group did not show up). The tour started with a instruction and safety briefing of our 4 seater. Then we were off! The tour starts on the outskirts of Hayden and quickly you are on a dirt road through California Park. Jason stopped several times to let us catch up and point out Bear Mountain, Diamond Peak and other points of interest. There are easy flat straight a-ways as well as some hairpin turns to get a feel of what the UTV can handle. You cruise thru meadows, aspen groves and forest. It ends in a steep, rocky trail to the top of a mountain that allows view of Steamboat Lake and Hahns Peak area. It was incredible to experience the smooth ride this performance machine provided. (I can tell you this trail would have been moderately challenging and taxing for me on my dirt bike. A 4x4 could navigate this road but would be very slow and bouncy). After some time to soak in the views, we returned the same way.I did not get to drive the UTV due to a recent wrist fracture/cast, but my husband had a blast. It was very fun being a passenger and see the beautiful landscape (although I was sad to not experience diving the UTV). The only downside... The time allotted for the tour is definitely for several vehicles. Since we were the only UTV, I felt like we were "stopped and waiting/viewing" for longer than I wanted. Granted, with several UTV's spread apart (for dust conditions) it would probably be perfect.FYI:-You will get dirty! These are open vehicles and the dust is incredible. There is some exposed storage space which WILL get coated with dust. Not an excursion for nice clothing/hair/bags. We were the only UTV in the tour. I'm sure more vehicle equals more dust. That's part of the fun, isn't it?-The UTVs are throughly cleaned between uses. You will not be getting into a dirty vehicle. Maintenance is performed constantly on these machines.-Snacks are basic: bottled water and granola bars. You can bring/store your own food and drink. There are cup holders in the UTV.-You can be as timid or as aggressive or you want (without damaging the UTV, of course).-California Park is beautiful.-Lot of sheep and sheepherders and their campers. The little campers are exactly as I remember seeing in pictures. Jason told us the sheepherders are from Nepal (?).-I'm trying to convince my husband to sell the dirt bikes and but a UTV!!!!
