twin peaks golf course

TP Golf Course is one of three City of Longmont courses. The back tees (blue) measure 6809 yards and white tees 6349. It is a par 70 with only two par five holes. The layout is pretty basic, not much OB to worry about or fairway beaches, and water can come into play on about six holes. What makes this course unique is every green is elevated, sloping substantially from back to front, and surrounded by "berms"....incredibly large and some with server drop offs. Simply put, if you don't hit the green in regulation par is almost impossible. I have never hit so many "flop" shots in my life as my game was off and I was missing right or left and had these delicate uphill flop shots to play. Playing in mid-March it's hard to say how the course is maintained, but I'm sure in a month or so it will look great. It was unfortunate that the round took 5 hours and didn't even seem that busy when we teed off at 10am, and in particular the back nine was painfully slow. The views of Longs Peak are spectacular, the staff friendly, and although I would choose many other of the great Colorado courses within 40 minutes of this one, I guess you could do worse.
