The Louisville Historical Museum is located in the historic downtown of the former coal mining settlement. It uses historical photographs and other artifacts to tell the storied history of Louisville. The curator of the museum is a very friendly and knowledgable woman dedicated to preserving the history of her town. If you take the time to go on a guided tour, which I highly recommend, she will take you to an associated building. The building is a replica of the kind of house a Louisville coal miner would have lived in filled with photographs and artifacts from the time. There is no fee for this attraction, but donations are welcome and thoroughly deserved.
I was so pleased by my experience at this FREE museum, that I became a member of their Louisville Historical Society. I found the volunteers who worked there to be very friendly & helpful. The photos and information were quite interesting as was the tour of the nearby historical residence.
If one is interested in the mining and Italian Immigrant history of our small town, then one will enjoy this growing museum.
