The animas city museum is quite interesting with lots of history displayed. This once was the animas school and therein lies more history. The people in charge there are very informed and extremely friendly and helpful. Always visit when in durango, co and never disappointed.

Friendly people who volunteer their time there. Hometown museum. Enjoyed the layed back feeling. 2 large rooms with lots of antiques etc, many of which were donated by residents.

The Mountain Motel owner set us up for an almost private tour. We asked many questions. Took a lot of pictures. The volunteers loved telling us their stories. They are trying to improve the museum. The staff was very dedicated to creating a memorable experience.

This is quite an interesting little museum. Enjoyed personal information and history while there from one of the volunteers. This place has a lot of historical things in a fairly small amount of space. The museum is very easy to find, to access. Saw some items that were last seen a very long time ago and the history of same.

This little hidden treasure is located behind the visitor's center. We are museum-o-philes and have hit tons of small town (our favorite type) facilities throughout the west. This one is well organized, well documented and displays a lot of interesting local items, not just piles of collected junk. Local lore, local characters and local antiquities shine here.
