I would definitely not use these guys! The customer service is awful and the guys who run it are not professional. I wish I had done more research as others have told me they had similar experiences of last minute cancellations. I drove ~7 hrs to Silverton the day before our cat trip and when we arrived the next morning we were told there is no room for us. John (one of the owners) did not call my contact number that I provided, but must have used caller ID and called my office line (I was driving to Silverton, not in my office). When I called to discuss the issue, John said he didn't have time to deal with this. When I said maybe social media is where I should go, he called me a d-bag and hung up on me. DO NOT RISK wasting a lot of driving time and ruining your day with these unprofessional clowns. All reviews on TripAdvisor are from friends, not actual customers.
Was in Silverton and did some Cat Skiing in mid Feb 2013. The Powdercat operation is very professional and the guides excellent. Altough we did not have the best snow conditions our guides tracked down some very good runs that really lived up to our expectations. Thanks for a pleasant day!
I have skied with this company many times and always end up having a great day. Don't be fooled by local conditions elsewhere. Starting your day at 10000' on Molas Pass gives this operation a huge advantage when it comes to storms sticking around and dumping ample amounts of powder. Starting the day on the east side and moving around the huge expanse of terrain during your day, all of the guides seem to have a photographic memory of the area and move from ridge to ridge always knowing where to take their crew to the best snow conditions possible; as they have been skiing this pass for over two decades. I always have felt safe even on big powder days. Your best powder day at a ski area doesn't compare to cat skiing with y10 of your best friends riding in style. The provided lunch is great and always fresh! Book a trip and you won't be disappointed. You don't have to be an expert powder skier either. The guides will take you to where you will have the most fun. I do recommend the fatties on a big day, the runouts can be very long and deep. I highly recommend Silverton Powdercats!
I've been skiing with Silverton Powdercats a hand full of times and the experience is always great! The skiing has been phenomenal, with a variety of terrain suitable for just about anyone. The guides are friendly and laid back, yet still very professional and safe. I've skied with a few other cat skiing companies in and out of Colorado, and I have to say my best and most enjoyable days have been with Silverton Powdercats.
I've been skiing with Silverton Powdercats a few times and always walk away with a smile. You'll ski a bit of everything, and it's all fun. The guides are super laid back and great partners to spend a couple days skiing POW!
If you like Fresh lines, great food and experienced and professional guides, Silverton Powder Cat is your ticket.I have personally been the day after a storm and weeks from the last and this outfit will find the goods! They will have fully satisfied by the end of the day, no comments like, that was it! many of my other experiences have ended this way! Your powder thirst will be quenched....Ad this fantastic day of powder riding to your southwest colorado ski vacation( intermediate to advanced alike)
