Another free, donations accepted, place in Estes Park that does a very good job of covering the local history of the area. Be sure to walk next door to see a building 'of the era' and its furnishings.
We enjoyed being in Estes Park & the museum this week for the 100th Anniversary celebration of the Park. There was a great presentation at the museum about mountain climbers of Longs Peak.
the difference between places like this in town and out of town are vastly different. Much more interest in real time things then the usual museum stuff that bores after a while.
More than anything else, visitors go to Estes Park to be in the mountains. But sometimes you need a day away from hiking, or the weather isn't cooperative for being outdoors, or you're a history buff. That's when you should get yourself over to the Estes Park Museum. It's a great small town museum run by big city minds. You won't spend hours there; you'll be there an hour, or two at the most. In that time you will learn about the history of the area through several well-crafted exhibits. It's a smart little museum that won't take up your whole day but will impress you with some worthwhile tidbits of historic information.
Good way to decide what to see and do, plus learn the history of the town.We took the free shuttle to Rocky Mountain National Park, also free when you arrived by shuttle. Gorgeous scenery!
This is a small museum but rich in history. Take time to stop in and enjoy the rich history it has to better serve you of the area of Estes Park. The people who work there are very warm and inviting.
We visited here on our last day, before we road out of town. Not a lot to it, but there are some neat exhibits. They even have a Stanley Steamer. Fun! Great place to spend an hour or less.
Nice people who know a lot about the local history. They need more space and displays, but what they have is really nice.
Very informative. The docent on duty was very helpful in finding the proper book for my granddaughter. Be sure to visit the old homestead cabin at rear of museum.
I really enjoyed the Estes Park Museum. There were a lot of exhibits and information in the small local museum. Well worth spending an hour at to learn more about the area.
We were waiting for others in the group who were doing some shopping in town. This was a convenient easy to visit museum. It is small enough to complete in an hour or less and thoroughly enjoyable. Don't miss the cabin out back.
An interesting little museum that gives you the background of Estes Park. It was a nice respite from an unusually hot day.
Estes Park has an interesting history! Many excellent artists have worked there, too. The museum does a good job of telling the story with displays and movies, and acquainting visitors with a sampling of the wonderful artwork done in Estes. And it's free!
Always like to visit. Their special events and programs are very well done and give a unique glimpse of local history. It's a lovely facility--very clean and bright--with a great little gift shop.
Nice thing to do to give the kids an idea of the Estes Park of yesteryear. We enjoyed the little ground squirrels outside near the old log house and looking in to see how it was furnished etc. Very convenient location across from the lake. Nice facility. Small and manageable.
