If you like rocks you need to come here. Very interesting, nice people. A lot to see and find something different. Fun Times
My husband is a geologist and our daughter inherited his love of all things rock and mineral and fossil. So when we saw a rock shop next to a coffee shop, we knew we'd be stopping in. Had lots of selections of both big and small specimens. Prices were very reasonable for quality. My daughter was able to hand-pick stones she wanted to take home to her rock tumbler and I fell in love with a set of petrified wood bookends. They wrapped everything well since we would be flying home. Actually, that's the only thing that stopped us from buying more as we didn't want to weigh the plane down lol. Found out afterwards they will ship for you. Happy the husband didn't hear that or there is no telling how much he would have bought. We were able to bring our coffees from the most excellent shop next door into the store. How could you want anything more?
i love rocks, they have quite a few specimens; minerals, quartz, etc., rocks for sale. interesting place. historical information. bring your truck and create a rock garden at home.
...you'll love this place! My seven year old daughter has recently become interested in rocks and gems. She saw the sign for Dick's and begged us to stop. I'm glad we did. The owner And his dog greeted us at the door. He had some of the most interesting rocks I have ever seen. He told us an interesting story of his great grandfather's land purchase where he mines Quartz. We purchased a small bag of rocks and he had our daughter pick some rose Quartz as a souvenir. Very friendly fun little stop.
What a great time we had exploring the rocks from around the world at the shop and museum. We bought a beautiful, large hefty apatite rock from some far away land to bring home and display. It is gorgeous! In the museum area are old miners' equipment and gear as well as some very special butterfly rocks (no, they won't sell you any) that they make right there. The variety is vast and the prices are fair. The Big Thompson runs behind it and there is a great big store that shares a parking lot with it that is filled with a variety of wares. The owner was friendly and the fireplace/woodstove was burning to keep us warm around Thanksgiving. Just a couple blocks off of Elkhorn (main drag) and worth the stop.
We were pleasantly surprised to find rocks from all over the world. You can spend an hour or so on a cold or rainy day without any pressure to buy. There is some detail given about the location of origin. Just rocks!
The shop had various rock gifts, lots of variety and great prices! A nice change from the basic touristy gift shops :)
Rocks, rocks, and more rocks! Big rocks! Little rocks! Blue rocks! Pink rocks! Green rocks! Black rocks! Great place right next to the river!
I'm not into rocks as much as my wife is, but I actually found this place pretty cool. There's something for a souvenir hunter here as well as the serious rock collector. Also some large landscaping rocks outside that would have been fun to cart home if we weren't flying! On a cool November morning, the owner had the fireplace stoked and popping. Definitely a friendly atmosphere! If you bought something here, be sure to enjoy a 10% discount at the great Coffee on the Rocks shop across the parking lot.
We love rocks so we always stop here to add to our collection. You can buy big rocks from all over the world by the pound and they even ship! The museum is free and quite extensive. Don't miss it!
Worth you time to stop and check out if you need something unique. Prices were very reasonable and the employees were knowledgeable and helpful. Happy rock hunting!!
Nice shop. Had everything from small trinkets to big ol' hunks of good stuff. Well worth a walk through.
We were looking for a rock shop, and this one is conveniently located on the way into RMNP. The owner is knowledgeable and friendly, and the prices are very good (my wife thought she could strap me to the roof on the way home to make room for some of the larger pieces). If you're a geology fan, this is well worth the stop.
Had a great time! Great selection and knew their product! Wish I'd gotten more! Very helpful staff. We'll be back!
Lots of beautiful rocks as well as small and inexpensive ones for kids. We bought an impressive petrified log there that came from Wyoming. It's somewhere between a couple of million years old and 200 million, according to god-Google. It's standing now next to our fireplace at home. It's beautiful and everyone asks about it. We bought a sizable rock there some years ago as well. Even if you don't buy a rock or two, it's worth stopping to have a look.
