Whether you travel this Jeep road in the summer or fall, you won't be disappointed with the sites. Best fall colors. You can ride your biker to the pass, drive a car or Jeep as well. Road is well maintained.

We have driven Boreas Road from Breckenridge many times. It is maintained with the exception of in the winter. It is fine to drive a 2 wheel vehicle but I prefer to drive it with a high all wheel drive SUV. I have driven it after the snow melt and Boreas was a real mess with mud, slush and potholes. The views are spectacular along the road including Boreas Lake, Baker's Tank, the old railroad water tower and views of the high altitude tundra. It is also a great place to view golden aspen canopies in the Fall. The road finally ends in the old railroad town of Como which is interesting as well.

I took the short drive from Breckenridge with my wife and young girls (7 & 10), not really knowing what we would see. It had snowed a couple days earlier, and we found exactly what other reviewers have been describing -- a tranquil and beautiful trail with stunning views. Well worth the time.

Definitely a nice drive. Once you get to the top you can look down on downtown Breck. Beautiful street lamps to guide the path.

We walked up this road to get some pictures, and it was an incredible view. I would like to go back in the fall to see how it looks when it's not entirely covered in snow. Highly recommend for sightseeing and photography.

The most treacherous pass I have ever seen when it is snowing; reverse banked 90 degree corners, in a 4x4 I still went sideways due to the slippery road. Saw multiple accidents and stuck vehicles; AVOID if it is snowing!!!

This drive is breath taking! We just kept driving and driving. The road at places get narrow and wide but always straight down on one side. The most beautiful views and great hikes.

Decided to take a break from skiing and wanted to find a place to take pictures. Took a hike on the Boreas Pass road since it was closed (not maintained after November). Nice little find...Started walking and wasn't sure how far how long I would have to walk before I found a good view but it wasn't too long. I was by myself so I didn't go too far and had to get back to meet my group for lunch so not sure what else was down the road but it was a little chilly so make sure you take an extra battery or two because the cold weather sure runs the battery down fast. Recommend a tripod for sure. Encountered several hikers, and some with dogs. There were some snowmobiles. For the most part it was very quiet. Such an awesome way to spend the morning. No restroom facilities.Recommend taking someone with you but I went alone. Guess it could be dangerous if you slipped.

This road follows the old railroad line that connected Como and Breckenridge. In the fall it becomes jammed with people looking at the changing colors.

We went up to see the truth & it delivers. I think this pass should be visited any season for a good scenic view.

Boreas Pass (Como to Breckenridge over the mountain), which is only open in the summer months, is a beautiful drive with many, many places to stop for photo ops. You'll encounter wildlife, flower-filled meadows, great mountain views, clear mountain streams and old mining ruins. We've only done this route in the car, but you'll also see hikers and occasionally bikers, so it's important to honor the 10-15 mph speed limit. It's a narrow one-lane dirt road, so watch out for oncoming cars and be ready to pull over or back up a ways. It takes about an hour to cross the pass, and I wouldn't recommend it during bad weather, because you won't get the full effect. If you're crossing from Breckenridge to Como, you might want to take 285 East to Bailey to enjoy a local restaurant or the winery, or go West on 285 to FairPlay and then back to Breckenridge. FairPlay has a handful of good restaurants and also South Park City, so you could make a day of it.

Better for car or bike than for hiking. There are many better hikes around Breck. It follows an old steam railway.

I like to run on Boreas Pass road in the summer or hike on it in the Winter when the pass in closed. This is a LONG road and there are no services, so make sure you are gassed up!

We took a drive on the road out of curiosity. The road was well paved and maintained because there are many excellent homes and developments along the way. There is very little commercial development or services. But it is only a short drive back down to Breckenridge. There are a couple of nice scenic pull outs that give a majestic view of the town below and the Breckenridge Ski Area on the mountain across the valley.

if you're looking for a fun trip where you can park the car and hike nearly anywhere, this is a great place for photos and to get away
