mainly a business that thrives in summer, they were very accommodating with the grandkids , i would highly recommend their horse riding trips,
My daughter and I rode for 1.5 hours with two cowboy guides and two other families in our group. The horses Cloud & Shoestring were very well matched with our ability levels (mine-expert & 12 yr old-novice). They did a great job explaining everything before we mounted and headed out. During the ride, Chris and Alex watched over all the riders and gave direction all the while cracking jokes and getting to know the riders. We both had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the perfect ride!
A group of seven of us went on a hour and a half ride. Many of the group were first time riders. The guides were excellent and the horses were very well trained. All of us enjoyed the experience. The trails were good and the length of time was just about right for our group.
We did a 1.5 hour ride for the 6 of us. The horses were very well behaved. We had two teens who hadn't ridden before and they did great. Lots of staff on hand and on the trail. The scenery wasn't much... Just go down the canyon and back up the ridge. They offer photos of you but the prices were outrageous.
We took our six-year-old on his first ride here. We just did a 30 minute ride to be sure he did okay (as many parents know kiddos can put on a brave face only to freak out later). He did wonderfully! Our guide talked to him about horses telling him fun facts and such. The trial wasn't really anything special but we still recommend them.
This was a great place to board our horses while we stayed at Wyndham Pagosa. It's only about 2 miles away so feeding was easy. We hauled our horses out to the wilderness trail heads each day, but you can ride right out of the ranch. Each horse has it's own 12x24 covered stall. The ranch offers trail rides and their animals were well cared for and well mannered. The work had to match the riders ability to the right horse.
The horses were responsive and the wranglers were a lot of fun. It's deceiving at first because it looks like you'll be riding through a neighborhood. However, there is a greenbelt "canyon" between the neighborhoods that makes for a great ride.
My mom, my 8 year old, and I wanted to take a trail ride. These stables were fairly close to our rental house so we gave them a try. I was a bit apprehensive as my daughter was thrown from a horse at a birthday party when she was 5 years old. She hadn't been on a horse since. I let the man at the desk know just in case. They brought us our three horses and had a platform to help us get up on them. Made it very easy. They gave us a short lesson on how to control the horse and the rules (don't let them stop, don't let them eat, etc). Our trail guide was fantastic! He was very friendly and relaxed. I wish I could remember his name. He provided gentle instruction when needed and praised my daughter when she managed to get her horse unstuck and moving again. It was the perfect experience to help build up her confidence again. We even saw a mule deer and it was the middle of the day. We took a one hour ride and the trail went behind some houses and along a ravine. They do up to a two hour ride and have other things like cowboy adventures and smores rides. A wonderful experience. I highly recommend them!
