The three C's, what else could you ask for? Doing a river rafting trip is so fun, we go more than once each trip.
The Animas river is awesome any time of year, great intermediate kayaking and above depending upon the season. It's a great view for me because I live right there! Love to hear white water 24/7. Fun tubing and rafting most all summer long
The Animas River in Durango has a wonderful, paved trail to follow. Though it was cold in winter, the trail was a great experience and the locals appear to love their outdoor time. Every so often a mallard duck would float by, enjoying the river directly. But we also saw kayakers, joggers, and dog walkers taking in the scenery. The trail is plenty wide to accommodate all the people who want to take it.
Great walking path, clear waters, calming walk along the walkways around the city. Great to see a lot of healthy activity taking place. Residents lucky to have such beauty to walk next to.
Love hiking the animas river the scenery there is so special! Love it I love every part of Durango did not have any dislikes
There is a lot going on here for everyone. Kayak competitions are held here. There is a dedicated area for kayakers. There is a walkway that follows the Animas River that locals enjoy for biking, walking, jogging and more. The park offers a picnic area and large playground for children to enjoy. Bathrooms and a tourist center is also located here.
Although bitterly cold, we tried our hand at panning for cold. Did not find any gold, but got frozen hands, instead. It was none the less, beautiful.
Water was a bit high from big rains before we came, so the fishing wasn't so good, but with the right water flow, it looks like a good place to catch some trout.
best time for rafting in spring run off may-cold june is best time to go-diffrent guides out there $ about same Mt waters good people
Went white water rafting in august 2013. The rapids were a little slow but still had a great time! Heard that in may or june they are much better and river is flowing good!
We rode our bikes from one end to the other while staying in Durango. Really nice views of the river and town. There was one short gravel section that must have been under construction -- not too great with our road bikes, but it wasn't too long.
The D&S narrow gauge steam powered scenic railroad follows the Animas River from Durango to Silverton and contributes greatly to making it the most picturesque scenic railroad in the country... Awesome...!Cya down the road ... .. .O o- Carl (BC Mayor..=)~
I have wandered up and down the Animas in Durango for many years and every visit seems like a new adventure. The water levels fluctuate with snowmelt and rains upstream. Obviously, the water clarity is affected as well. I enjoy fly fishing for trout and photographing the reflections in the water. On occasion, it is fun to see kayak competitions below the park. A beautiful stream.
Very beautiful had great photo opportunity's with my husband. We had a rainy day but it didn't damped our experience actually raised the river waters making river even more active
My family likes this river. It's a beautiful river that flows through town. There are many things to do like fish and float but I just thing it's a great river on its own. I especially love it in winter with the snow on its banks. Last winter saw several eagles there.
