Don't miss hiking this long but gorgeous loop hike! You will think you are in the middle of nowhere! Love this hike!

This is a great trail off the Jud weibe trail..once you turn off onto it,not many people and no bikes allowed. You can go to many high points for views or continue all the way up to the basin & pass or do a 18 mile loop and come out mill creek. Great variety of ecosystems and terrain. one of my favorites !

Sneffels Highline Trail is one of the local classics. That said, you won't see Mt. Sneffels (if you want to see it, go up towards the Gold Hill from the gondolla upper station). But the wiews West (Vermillion, Wilson Group) and the (final) views of Mt. Emma and Dallas Peak are outstanding. The drawback is lack of parking near the trailhead in the town I(we just rode gondolla from the Mountain Village, adding ~10 minutes of walk). Doing it as a loop requires two cars (I do not recommend the 2+ mile closing traverse). And, of course, be prepared for 3+ hours of relatively steep hike up - mostly in woods.

The Jud Weibe trail is a pleasant hike with nice views of the town, but if you really want to experience the spectacular views in the high country, head for the Sneffels Highline Trail. The two basins you'll traverse are filled with wildfowers, and the views over the Wilson group are wonderful. Yes, it's a long hike, but you'll have the satisfaction of knowing you experienced the best of Telluride!

I've done this hike 3 or 4 times now. I never get tired of it. It's a beautiful trip into the high country above Telluride. The scenery transitions several times on your way to the upper portion of the trail. The length (3 - 4 hours) is perfect for me. When you break into that upper basin and pas a beautiful waterfall, it's like the whole world opens up to you. And if you're tired toward the end of the hike, you can drop down into town and shuttle back to your car.

Sneffels Highline Trail Loop is a long classic of the area. I love it in both directions. Majestic scenery. Always a bit challenging to play with the weather. Can be cold at a time, be prepared like any other in Colorado!

A fantastic walk, but at altitude of 8750-12270 feet you will either need to be acclimatised to this altitude, or be prepared to take extra stops for breath.Recommended to do the walk clockwise as the climbing gradient is less severe walking it this way, with a long gentle final climb in a glacial valley to a final diagonal traverse of a scree slope (path solid underfoot) to the high point. There is a beautiful waterfall in the valley which makes a good rest stop. Views from the highpoint, which is the saddle of a ridge, is spectacular in all directions. Good views of Mountain Village and the Telluride ski slopes as clear strips in the forest form the top. but Telluride itself cannot be seen. Plenty of marmots can be heard here too.Use of mosquito/bug repellent recommended.

This is a challenging 13 mile hike. It rises steeply from the town of Telluride and continues above treeline into 2 spectacular basins divided by a 12,000+' pass. At the end of Aspen street take the Jed Weibe trail to the Deep Creek Trail and just keep going. Mind the weather as it can get dicey in summer with afternoon thunderstorms. The trail is easy to follow all the way.

Be in reasonably good shape, start early in the morning so you can be finished with the highest portion of the trail before afternoon summer thunderstorms build. Great hike. Don't hike it alone. Take food, water, layered clothing and be sure someone knows what time you left and are expected back.
