bad chocolate and snack food choices (overpriced at that), lots and lots of trinkets, limited photography books, and is this what it comes to now? defining a truly marvelous outdoor natural spectacle by the amount of items a kid screams for in the gift shop. OK, this sounds curmudgeonly, but gads, a hike in the woods, an exploration, a deep breath of alpine air, the embracing of rainbows and listening to the elk...all this is so majestic in comparison to trinkets. The bathrooms are nice, the last good ones before entering the park.
Rangers are very knowledgable and friendly. They surely know a lot about wild animals and the park. They take a extra step and help you understand and know the park better.
Be sure to stop here. They have an excellent selection of souvenirs, clothing, etc. And prices are reasonable for a tourist area.
The Fall River Visitor Center is one of two on the east side of the park. I've always had great help and advice from the rangers who work there. Go here and ask questions to make the most of your visit. For those who like to shop, there is a huge shop full of stuff, both branded and not branded.
Following advice from some of the forums on TA, we took the Fall River entrance to the national park. This is a large visitor center with lots of information and displays about some of the plants and animals that you will find inside the park. I talked with a park ranger about the best way to proceed through the park and got the necessary booklets for the kids to complete for their Junior Ranger badges. After a few minutes we went to the adjoining gift shop. This place was huge. The souvenirs stretched floor to ceiling and wall to wall, anything and everything you could possibly want for Rocky Mountain National Park, and also a bunch of stuff that didn’t have anything to with the park. We even discovered a staircase that went down to a lower level of more stuff! We decided that it would be best to think about souvenirs after we visited the park. I would recommend the Fall River Visitor Center.
We stopped here before going on a two hour trail ride next door. The center was wonderful and we bought some gifts at the shop attached. A must stop if you are entering the park.
Museum, Tiny Candy Shop, Restaurant and Huge Gift Shop!Worth a visit before and/or after RMNP...Museum- quick, fun and TONS of knowledge. Candy Shop- sweet and satisfying but in Estes Park there are local candy shops that are grand so this one is just average. Gift Shop- the best in the whole area. seriously huge, tons of great priced items. 2 levels. includes elevator. clean big bathrooms on main floor. Restaurant: didn't visit.
This was our favorite VC in RMNP. It had interesting displays & seemed open & airy. It was the first of the 5 we visited. There is a gift shop inside, but next door is a huge gift shop called Gateway. It had everything! Don't miss this one.
The is a very nice visitor center and the Ranger staff is very helpful. They have a very well stocked gift shop with almost everything National Park you would want. Clean restrooms and a good place to take a short rest.
This looks to be fairly new. It has great displays and a very helpful staff. When outside, take your binoculars and scan the cliffs in front of you for mountain goats.
This visitors center is quite large. It has a huge gift shop with everything imaginable you may want to remember your mountain vacation. There is a small grocery store there as well.
If you have tourism bug or friends who want souvenirs, this is the place. This is a regular stop on our way in or out of RMNP. Often we find something to send to distant friends or relatives.
very drivable road on non pavement, but great views...visitor center is at end of this road and has good bathrooms, gift shop, etc.
It has a lot of great exhibits and stuffed animals. So worth the price. I mean it's free, but still. If there was a fee then it would be worth whatever that was. The place is overflowing with information easy for children to grasp. I have been here 4-5 different times.
Big, informative, good place to eat as well. Nice gateway into the RMNP. This is a lesser used entrance into the park and the center is a great place to stop before entering or even exiting.
