这条野营径是修在以前的铁路上面的。就是很久很久以前阿斯蓬有到70号公路的铁路,但后来拆掉了,那时候主要是运煤用的。现在就变成了郊野径,风景还不错。
When we're not skiing this trail is a great place for a long leisurely walk along the Roaring Fork. Views of Aspen Highlands ski resort visible. Blacktop path that goes for a few miles (at least).
During our recent stay in Carbondale our "cabin" was on the trail. What a scenic and beautiful trail. We walked it daily with our dogs and our only disappointment is that we didn't bring our bikes!
We walked 9 miles along this trail. It was very scenic along the river and especially where there was snow on the ground. It was an easy walk and a nice wide trail.
Rode from Aspen to Carbondale and back with my wife. Just beautiful, about 1500 ft elevation gain coming back up the river, several places to eat along the way, along the river all the way. A lovely day.
my fiance and I rented bikes in downtown aspen and rode this trail. Coming back was all uphill where if you are not in great shape it can be a struggle. im 28 and pretty active but I was hurting by the time we got back. you can take the easy way out and take the bus if you like. overall is was fun
Beautiful scenic path along the river. Trees heavy with snow.Water rushing along side. Crisp mountain air. Asoen blue skies.
t is a long trail: scenic, and fairly flat. The river views are spectacular. We would walk here frequently and found it very beautiful scenery. We took many photographs along the route. It is very worthwhile and was not crowded.
Well maintained paved trail along the river. Nice views. Bike rental available in many places around town.
We rented bike from Vellos, which is located near the John Denver Sanctuary, right on the bike path. The bikes were in great shape and the path was excellent. It has a few minor slopes, but it is certainly not a difficult ride. The path follows the river out of town toward Balsalt and Carbondale. We only went a few miles before we turned around and returned to Aspen. The weather was a little sketchy.
My wife and I rented our bikes in Aspen. We then proceeded north along the trail to Woody's Tavern for a quick bite to eat. From there we re-entered the trail and road on to the Arciero Trailhead. The Old Snowmass bus stop is a short jaunt away on Highway 82. From there we road the bus back to Aspen. The bus came equipped with an outside bike rack.Do yourself a favor when in Aspen check out the Rio Grande Trail.
We rented bikes in downtown Aspen, and took the Rio Grande trail to Woody Creek Tavern. This trail is immaculately maintained and drop dead scenic. Wow. Walk it, Bike it. Enjoy this trail! A fun half day activity.
We road our bikes on the Rio Grande Trail for several hours (over the course of two days) and we loved it. What beautiful scenery - it is incomparable!
Easy hike along some very scenic spots. Part of the trail goes past the John Denver Sanctuary, a very pretty spot. Loved being beside the river and seeing the water rushing over the rocks. The entire trail is 45 miles long, I only explored about six miles of it, between Aspen and about three miles north of Stein Park, where we parked the second day. Beautiful scenery, well maintained trail, level. Many opportunities to go off main trail to get closer to bridges and water. Easy hike, very beautiful, don't miss it. Restrooms as Stein Park, bring water to drink along the trail.
We borrowed some bikes and road out of town on the trail. We went during the offseason, so it wasn't crowded at all, but I'm not sure how it would be in peak season. The trail was relatively flat and very well maintained, and the creek and changing leaves were beautiful. We rode the trail back into town as well, and it is extremely convenient and easy to access.
